A couple times a year, I start a "post your best speeding ticket story here" thread. Each time, the stories get better and better. I'll start it this time with a couple of my own speeding ticket stories

In 1987, I was pulled over in my RX7 Turbo II doing 127 in a 45....by three cop cars.

A few years later, a cop followed me in my Ferrari Mondial convertible for about three miles. I used my turn signals, never exceeded the speed limit, etc., etc... He pulled me over, walked up to to me and said, "You didn't do anything wrong, I was just admiring your car. Is this the new Fiero?"

Whether you talked your way out of a speeding ticket, got one doing 150, or have another good speeding ticket story, post it here.

Then, check back and read other's best speeding ticket stories.

But that's what you get for driving a Mondial

LOL...

All I can say is I was going double the speed limit in an ML, passed a cop reading his computer on a side street. Looked over and in slow motion saw him look up and and make eye contact with me. I pulled over down the next street and just waited for him engine off hands on the wheel. He asked for my license and reg and prof of insurance. I realized I did not have my wallet and at the time I was only 16 but luckily I kept the insurance card and reg in the car. Thankfully he did not get me on radar and just gave me a half an hour long lecture on speeding and let me go. I have never been pulled over for speeding since, I learned my lesson.

not a speeding ticket
Forget the 0-60 stuff and the 1/4 mile nonsense.

Stradbally to Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. How long?

I woke up 1 hour late to catch the ferry and got there with 5 minutes to spare before the ramp went up.

I will tell you the car later.

Talk about speeding tickets, I'd had numerous, but mostly my fault, but there were a couple times when the fools just wanted to harass me. I am just going to give one as to show you how cops in NJ really are.

Couple years ago, I was driving my fully modified and race prepped 10 seconds Subaru WRX on a local road from Mountain Lakes to Boonton Twp to meet up with a couple friends to go to a local track. I was doing 35MPH, just like everybody else in front and behind me, minding my own business, out of nowhere, 2 patrol cars came speeding up and pulled me over. I was all confused but proceeded with the obvious steps, key on dashboard, hands on wheel, all windows down, had all my info ready to hand over. 2 cops came out from one of the patrol car came over, first thing they said to me was: "You think it's cool to drive a race car on public roads?" I responded no sir, the car is registered, insured, & inspected. Their respond was yeah right, so I handed them the needed info and sat in the car & wait. Few minutes later, the 2 came again, asked me to step outside of my car, so I did, they began to ask me the usual questions, except for one, which really pissed me off, "Do you have any weapons or drugs in the car? If you do, you will be in jail for a long time, son." Even though I wasn't eactly old enough, but calling someone son, especially coming out from a guy looked like who just graduated from community college, was what set me off. I responded: "Here's the key to all the locking compartments in the car, and if you would like, get some K-9 units as backup cause they sniff better." Man, did they get upset, they started giving me lectures about insulting a cop, blah blah blah, I just responded: "Well, do your partners from the other car find anything? Because if this is going to take any longer, I am going to have a word with my lawyer whom appears to know everybody in Morris County." That didn't stop them right away, but it did work a bit in a way that they just gave me back my documents, and told me not to go over the speed limit cause they will always be watching this car as it goes by, and to finish off the whole non sense, they said: "Your exhaust is too loud, go get it fixed." What a classic comment from them whenever they see an import with an exhaust. I am not saying they shouldn't check out any suspicious vehicle or person, but after they'd checked out my documents which came through, and still went ahead with the stupid search!? Yes, I am a minority, but I wasn't doing anything or looked suspicious & illegal, I just think they should make themselves more useful than that.

i was in my STi in ny going to jerz... going about 65-70 minding my buisness when i see in my rear view this car coming up on me fast... i see its a turbo supra and he pulls up next to me, i make like im playing with my navi cause i didnt want to run, its simple u dont race on the thruway, u will get caught. anyway... all of a sudden i hear sirens, i thought it was the supra messing with me, cause i had sirens too but sold em awhile back, well then i see lights so the supra slows down and pulls behind me, i figured when he was going fast to catch up to me the cop was following him the whole time, well all of a sudden the cop pulls ahead of me and swerves his car right in front of mine, forcing me to the grass... he parks his car in the middle of the highway and starts yelling at the top of his lungs... im like what i do. he said i was racing doing a 110mph, im said not me, maybe the supra but i wasnt doing anything wrong, anyway he took me and the 17 yr olds supra keys from us and towed both our cars... went to court he pretty much helped me out cause he knew he was wrong that night but the kid that tried racing me got caught 2 weeks later for street racing and was arrested... after that night i sold all my mods sold the car and bought a benz...lol

When I owned my Neon ((i know.. i know.. its a bad car)) I was trying to catch up to a friend cuz I was following him somewhere I ddnt know how to get to. He was at least a couple miles up the road so I floored it. I was going about 100 and I look up ahead and what do you know, its a state patrol officer comming twords me. Hes about a mile up, but I know im done. He didnt even turn on his lights before I was at the side of the road parked with all my iformation out. I almost thought he wasnt even going to stop becaus he drove by me, then after about getting a car length behind he turned around, flipped on the lights and parked.

When he got the my car I just smiled, handed him the paperwork, he walked away, and then came back with my ticket. I dont think he even said 1 word to me. It was quite interesting.

When I looked at the ticket he wrote out he only wrote it for 70 in a 55, so sometimes being a nice complient citizen can get you off the hook big time!

Sorry, should have said, 2 hours 5 mins, check it on your Autoroute or whatever which says about 5 hours. Average 108 mph! Includes getting lost for 10 mins in Dublin. The (ex) wife was fairly good about it.

I don't know, sounds like he got his digs in...appropriately. Police harass young and young-er people all the time with dubious probable cause, ask any local attorney. Most attorneys believe the average local cop has it in for young people.

BTW, i'm not young
