raced an 07 sl65 tonight

wasnt even close,we were toyin on the highway(no one around),and we both hit it about 55,as soon as mine spooled it spun pretty bad but caught at about 90 or so.

then the murduring began,i let out at around 165-170(speedo was pegged past 155 for a few seconds) and he was about 8-9 car lenghts behind me.

oh ya this was in my firehawk, and the benz was my friend. and i know im going to get crap about those speeds on public roads but there was no one in sight,im all set with dangering others lives.

im going to try it again and get it on video,it was pretty fun

Spinning badly from 55-90??? chances are the SL would have been long gone.
Even had it been an 8 or 9-second car(w-drag tires/traction), having that kind of traction issue doesn't give you room to pull "8-9 car lenghts" on a solid 11-second car.

T88 single turbos are mighty quick animals...here is a vid of a T88 'vette, claimed to have 800+ whp, taking out a Ford GT with claimed 680 whp off bottle, 723 on bottle; they claim that this GT ran an 11.1 @ 136, yet the 'vette took it by two lengths in a 1st gear-140 rolling-start run.

I quickly glanced through the 3 pages of that story and he said he took the SL65 by 8-9 car lengths at 165+. That would make sense if the SL fell on its face at 155'ish.

Nice pics of the car...I wouldnt want to be in that Firehawk above 130. Very unstable. Id rather be in one of my Benz. My SL and C32 are very smooth at 155plus.

Signature picture.

A Firehawk is a modified Firebird that was sold through dealers after being tweaked by SLP (Street Legal Performance). Think of it as a Pontiac/AMG. They had like 300 HP, but have also been heavily modified (like this one).

Thanks whoover, Sig pic should have been pretty obvious!!! I only worked WOT out the other day!

By the sounds of it the firehawk would be like the HSV Monaro here, or GTO in the states?

no, the firehawk was a firebird in the late 90's that had a ram air intake, some appearance mods (about 15 more hp) and a few other goodies.

The Firehawk was available right up to 2002 when GM killed the F-body. It did have a ram air hood but actual power output across the LS1 line was pretty well the same, except for later model years being slightly stronger than earlier years (4th gen run was from 98 to 02) - they all dynoed right around 300rwhp be it Firehawk, WS6, Trans Am, Camaro etc. The Firehawd did have some nice suspension upgrades and would have had no problem with "stability" at higher speeds. I used to own a '98 WS6 RamAir Formula, and even with slightly less tuned suspension than the 'Hawk would pull right to it's 162mph limiter without any drama. Car tracked straight and true and even at those speeds is was easy to maintain lane discipline.

i owned two of it's twins, the ss camaro's and later 3 of it's daddy's z06's. that powertrain was one of the best and least problematic i've ever owned. not to mention both my z06's got 30+mpg highway mileage at 75mph.

Never had a Z06..damnit *L*...but I can vouch for your other points. Even after mods that saw me trap at 115+mph I would still get 28-29mpg on the highway. I beat on that car hard and never had any trouble with engine or transmission. Unfortunately that 10 bolt rear was a weak point, so I replaced mine with a Moser 12 bolt and 4.11's - solved that problem!

Look, take care of yourself.
Besides that, I was not the one who was racing.
I just thought you would like to see it, whats wrong about that?
