Finally found one: M5 vs. CLS63
We ripped him a new one up to about 130+. Two car lengths. Maybe he couldn't drive it properly, he was obviously fiddling around in manual mode and I've clocked over 34,000 miles on my E60 to date, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who's had more time behind the wheel of an M5. I know that I can drive the living hell out of the car. I slowed down for oncoming traffic and he flew past me like a ricer and had to almost PUSH a cherokee out of the way to survive. He was obviously pretty pissed. I was trying to give him a thumbs up too!

Dude hitting the limiter in the 63 will **** you, it truly sucks and for some reason especially using the paddles it hits the limiter. I have learned to shift more quickly using the paddles because there is a delay prior to it actually upshifting. seems best to shift 5400-5900. I hit the limiter and the car just feels like the rubber band ran out. I love the fact the cars are so close, it was so fun racing other 63's because whoever got in front stayed..Kinda neat. I suppose the m5 hitting the red also is not a good thing?
Sorry bout the sig guys.

Just reading the Edmunds review .Seems they also came to the conclusion the M5 and CLS 63 have identical #s, with handling going to the M5 and straight line accel to the 63. So this race should have been scarier for you.
Should there be any suprise to this? I don't think a CLS63 can take a M5 on the highway. RIGHT?

M5 is in the mid 12's with a wicked mid-upper range.CLS63......never mind. I mean, for ****s sake, can't an M5 beat a stock E55 on the highway? CLS63 is an awesome car (best looking, by far) but past figures show ...stock for stock...a M5 would win. Besides, if CH can thrash his car like he thrashes MBWorld members........he should be a tough adversary on the road.

My dad try to play around with the Speedshift...thought he was going to blow my engine! He is classic three pedal kinda guy though, and said he was expecting a faster gear change. You've just gotta get used to it I guess...
Thats alot of miles on the M,did u find it made a bit more power once it loosened up a bit?
I'm looking forwards to messin around with your car,but I've only got 320mi on the E63 so it may be another month or so
Definitely put some more miles on your E63. It won't be at peak performance until at least 2k miles plus.
i have some bikes comin up sunday if your interested in running the supra
i'll run you heads up on my dora scooter vs princess barbie
but it really comes down to "who has their machine on the right power band"
from what I gather.. the M5 was ready to blast of at his high rev power band and lightning quick SMG2 and the AMG driver didn't seem to know how to best use his power band.
it should have been closer but the M5 still traps higher and will pull away in any case (stock vs stock)
remove the charcoal filters on the E63 and Sprint booster will provide some additional help to combat the SMG2 advantage.
