This is not a kill story but does this ever happen to you?

It seems that every time I am driving my sl55(weekend ride), someone comes along and beckons me to race. I bought my car truly to enjoy leisure drives and not to mention, put my foot in it every now and then. It is nice to know that you have enough power to get yourself out of a jam when you need to. I cannot tell you how many cars have come up beside me gun their engines. I must be abnormal because I have had my car less than 4 months, and only floored it once and it wasn't today.

This morning I was taking my usual early morning Sunday drive on the freeway, and I see in my rearview mirror what looks like this Dodge Hemi dodging in and out of traffic. He comes up beside me and I give it a little gas,(I am doing about 75)and from the sound of his engine it sounds like he floors it and jumps a car length a head of me. He is about a 2 car lengths ahead of me and I am thinking, Ok, and so I push my girl a little bit(I know this because the supercharger kicks in) and start gaining. One car length down on the HEMI and guess what? He cuts me off and brakes. Go figure. The one time I think I am going to really put my foot in it, this happens!

Does this type of stuff happen to everyone else who drive AMG's.

hah, sounds like the hemi chickened out when he realized he couldn't hang. That AMG badge is a huge intimidation factor-that is if it's not a clone. People see those three letters and want to blow by to show their "dominance." Stupid if you ask me, but, I know the feeling. My dad used to drive an E55, and he'd always complain about these kids trying to wipe him off the highway. Get used to it... as long as you have the AMG, people will be jealous.

Yep & M's, Porsches, Ferraris, etc....

Especially ricers or as my wife calls them Fast & the Furious people. They just seem to want to race our cars every chance they get. Some type of inferiority complex i guess.

I'm awed at some of the stories I hear from you guys. Coming from Jersey where we have a lot of fast cars, I RARELY get challenged here, and when I do its from someone who more than likely just wants to see me run.

Dude, bring your car down here & you'll have every Vin Diesel wannabe with a coffee can exhaust wanting to "race" you. It's quite funny actually.

It's just the opposite here in Vegas. I can't get anyone to run. Yesterday, coming home there was a Mitsu Evo and a Cobra going down the road. I pulled up next to them and nothing. The Cobra had gauges, sounded very "throaty" so I assume he has work done but apparently didn't want any piece of me. So I take off. I see the guy in the Evo motioning to the Cobra to go after me. He comes up from behind but we have to stop at the light. He's behind me and after we get through the intersection he can pull around to my left but instead, he pulls into a gas station. So, I pull into the next driveway. He sees that I'm game so he follows me back out on to the street. He pulls up to my left and there's no traffic for about 1/2 mile. I honk 3 times and get on it. He doesn't budge. So I let him catch back up. We try again and again, he doesn't get into it. I slow again and he nails it. He's now 2 cars ahead. I'm so ticked I can't believe it. By the time I get into it I make up the distance but now there's traffic ahead. He's an idiot and stays in it so I back off. He gives me the thumbs up sign and hangs a U-turn. I'm sure he posted on the Mustang forum about beating up on the E55.
That's what I usually deal with around these parts.

On the expressway, there are always some guys willing to play around (mostly BMW's with drivers in their 30's and 40's). However, more recently, I was out with my younger brother. Top down, at a stoplight, when this mid-50's looking guy pulls up next to me in a brand new G35 Sedan. Sport Package with temporary plates. We make eye contact, and a couple of times he kept turning to look over at me. The guy begins to edge his car a little bit, hoping to bait me for a run.

I had that familiar itch, the one that made me want to wipe that stupid look off his face as his brand new "sport sedan" became a reflection in my rear view...but, I don't drive that aggressively with people in the car with me. So I laugh and shake my head...light turns green, off he goes.

Usually mid-price range sporty cars, and the occasional SUV on the highway. Ricers, however, don't seem to want to play with me...

SO true...there is no one in jersey that wants to race, though I must say I killed a BMW 3 series with my lexus years back, I know it's such a big kill ...and the guy followed me off the main road into the local roads so I just fu*ked with him and drove into my friend's neighborhood where theres a huge circle and just drove in circles until he realized on the 3rd round that I wasn't going anywhere and exited...at which time I began following and honking/flashing him

Same thing down here in OC

We seem to have the same thing down here.
Especially on the Canyons and toll roads.
Everyone has to catch up and look, then to pass.
The crotch rockets in the canyons are totally insane.

Lets get the guy in the SL55 to waste some gas.
Normally I just dont pay attention. The novelty wore off
after a few months.

The biggest offenders are the young M3 drivers.
Its some sort of status to try and get yourself killed going after a AMG.
These guys will do a flybye no matter what.

Once in a while a older guy in a Porsche takes a stab.
The Oversized SUV`s and raised Diesel 350`s seem to be getting real aggresive as of late.

Everyonce in a while. Like on the toll road yesterday.
M3 tailgating me at 80.
Go to 4th with the paddle. Then floor it. Down it goes to 3rd.
And the offending BMW M3 fades away as the AMG roar echo`s off
the k-rails. I let off at 110 and here he comes for the flybye.
Never mind the traffic coming up fast. Got to get that flybye in.

Im not a ricer but I drive a car that is considered rice I do get AMG/BMW drivers that seem to jump on me..Just today I got raped by an M6..I guess Im getting paid back for what some ricer in a Z did lol..I dont mind...I always oblige the race though because I just love seeing powerful cars disappear...Dont really care win or lose....Had a guy in an SLR slow down and rev on me on the West Side Hwy....Before I could drop to 3rd gear he was in the Bronx The sound, the fury, the beatdown = priceless

I will sometimes speed up just to get a glimpse of a car I consider special and the owner will think I want to run...If they drop it, I drop it and try to stay in the same zip code....If they look irritated I leave them alone...Its all about fun to me...No delusions of how fast my car is or ego involved ....

Same here. Between the blown W210 E55 and the W211, I've had maybe 5-6 contests altogether? The only ones that were even worth the gas were a new Cobra in the W210 and a stock W211, and in the W211, an M6 from a freeway roll. Other than that, I actually had a fart canned Honda pull up to the W210 to tell me he thought he was going to beat me for a second at the last light, but he missed a shift?? I didn't know we were racing.

Yeah I REALLY agree with 350Zman. Whenever I see a really nice car, and in and around Boston, an AMG is rare to see, I weave in and out of traffic just to get closer to get a better look at it. A lot of times people mistake this as me wanting to race them, but I just want to admire their car.

Yeah I can literally go months without people wanting to race ... and here I see a ton of modded cars ...

I drive by and take a look at the drivers and they are always staring straight ahead.

One of the reasons I can think of is that people are just afraid of the cops. There are a couple guys in my town with some insane cars. One guy just picked up a 997TT and another has a wicked looking RS4 with some really nice rims on it. I'd have to pull a "Han" and do a friggin Tokyo drift circle around either car to get them to move at all.

Who the **** changes the rims on the B7 RS4? To mess with the styling of that car in anyway should be jailtime.

OT- ricers try all the time but get ignored. However, the worse offenders are other BM drivers. They have no respect for the marque and see Ms as their ultimate challenge.

You're right!! I had some guy in a 545 try to go with me the other day. I just yelled "FOOD CHAIN!!!" at him while burning out.

I wouldn't take that as cockiness on the 545i owner's part. He saw his big brother on the road and wanted to play, just for the simple fun of it.

Yeah I do that sometimes as well....theres also times when I see another car, whether its something nice or even sometimes a crap box, flying down the highway, I like to just go along with them at the same speed...not racing just going really fast...haha

HAHA yeah you'll find people around Boston do all sorts of stuff like this...I mean if someone really does something stupid like slam on the brakes in front of me like the one this thread is about, I do sumtin back, if I don't feel like going near their car again or sumtin, I'll just huck a nickel at their car and take off....I know thats kinda immature, but when people **** you off enough you gotta do what you gotta do to get them back!

No one ever seems to challenge me. I guess I don't look the part (no rice, no stickers, no dark tint, no boy-racer behind the wheel ).

Even funnier is that when I even think it might be on, it isn't on - or is not what I thought it was going to be. Just last weekend, by chance I ended up at the same stoplight of a multiple-lane freeway entrance alongside a Camaro SS and a Mercury Marauder. I thought the SS was in it with the Marauder because they were looking each other over. No brake torque from me, no intent to race - I just thought I'd press a little and see what happened between them. Well, the light turned green and what do you know? The SS didn't hit it at all. Furthermore, the Marauder was no ordinary Mercury and he walked away from me handily. It had SVT badges (yes, I know - no such animal) and a "Supercharged" badge on the fender - apparently no lie, since a stage 2+ C32 is usually no joke. I had to laugh at myself

Edit: looked like this:
I guess there's a popular supercharger for them made by a company called Trilogy. They commonly turn between high 11's and low 12's
