01 GSXR 1000 vs S 55

hey guys just wanted to say most of the time when im on my bike i'm the fastest thing on the road. but today i ALMOST got beat by an S 55. we were at a light and we went at it. the light turned green and he was gone. i didnt gun it off the line cause i didnt think i had to, but i was very surprised at the speed of this big car. BUT at the next light i was ready. the light turned and we were neck and neck for a few seconds then i pulled ahead it was very close. but as soon as we hit the clear open highway i was long gone (top speed 194mph) but i would slow down to about 140-155 and play with him. he was a good sport.

Too bad it wasn't a Renntech 600 or 65. It would have been even more fun. However, with a 1000 CC bike, there aren't too many cars that will keep up with you on the hwy short of a few twin-turbo Vipers, TT Corvettes, TT GT 40's and the occasional super boosted Supras.

well the digital speedo says 194 mph so im not sure if that is completly accurate or not. but its gotta be pretty close. for the most part the bike is stock except for a full yoshi exhaust, smaller rear sprocket (8-9 teeth), K&N air filter, thats about it. i've taken off all the extra stuff like mirrors, blinkers, reflectors. whatever i could do to reduce weight. thats about it.......

8-9 teeth,so your running a 34 tooth rear sprocket?
In USA the speedo stops at 186,it will not read any higher.
Post up a pic,I'd like to see your bike

Thats whats needed to get close to&break into the 200mph club w/out power adders. The engine work cost more then the bike.A stock GSXR-1000 will not be able to hit the rev limiter in 6th gear as it doesnt have the HP to pull it(or a stock Busa for that matter). You need an honest 185rwhp for an average sized rider to break into the 190mph range. Our GSXR's read typically 8-10% optimistic on the speedo at speeds over 160mph.My friends & I have done all the homework when it comes to top-ens runs.We have a dyno at our immediate disposal. We make adjustments, dyno pulls&then head out to the street to back them up to see if it works or not.

BTW,even w all my HP the engine would never pull -9teeth on the back. The 1000 has stock gearing in front&-3 down in the back.It would be impossible to launch the bike without stalling w/-8 or -9 teeth.Thats turbo bike gearing&I'm surprised to hear you say you run that

Have fun bro

like i said before thats way to much work and money for me. my bike is fast enough i guess i wont be in the 200mph club any time soon. but i got a question why would the bike stall with -8 down in the back ??? i just give it gas and let the clutch out and it goes.

Well,to be completely honest I gotta call on having an 8 tooth smaller rear sprocket.A very common practice is to go -1(equal to +1.5t on the back)or +2 on the rear to put your bike in the rev range quicker which means better acceleration. If you need to smooth your power delivery a bit,you would drop 1 or 2 t out back or go +1 in front.Turbo bikes that make 300-500hp would hit the rev limiter super fast if they ran stock gearing. But,since they have a huge amount of horsepower at their disposal they benefit greatly by dropping 6-7teeth in the back&the engine is more then happy to pull that gearing.Thats why they will do 230mph w/out problems.
By dropping 8 teeth your putting your bike so far out of it's powerband it's more akin to accelerate like a 250 Ninja. You'd effectively have the worlds only 20sec 1/4mi GSXR-1000.
Not to mention the fact that you'd have to cut 6" off your stock chain to even be able to adjust it properly.
Heres a quick read if your interested:

Gixxer, he obviously wasn't expecting someone of your knowledge base and experience to throw up the flag. As soon as I read "194" my eyebrow shot up. It takes a lot to get a bike up to those speeds.

BTW that stripper has to be one of the ugliest birds I've ever seen in my life. Was she stripping at the special olympics? Definitely some extra chromosome action going on there.
