clk55 vs e36 modded m3
the wife and i pulled up to a light on a straight away and a clearly modded m3 was sitting at the light. (chrome exhaust, red brakes) i was in the 2003 clk55 coupe. i wasnt really paying attention since it was just a commute to work and i wasnt really awake, but he rolled backwards slightly to see my badges. funniest thing...my wife said, "oh hell no, you're not going to let that asian kid jump all over you."
i was stunned ...she is very conservative but as an asian chick with a white husband i think it must be some issue there.
his car sounded a bit odd, like forced induction. i was honestly thinking this is going to be a seriously tight race or i'm gonna get creamed. anyhow i got a great launch (brand new tires)...i heard his shift to second and swear i heard a spew of air blow out so i nailed it as hard as i could thinking it was turbo.
he was around 6 car lengths behind us when i passed 100mph...maybe more. i dont think he let off, he definitely shifted at very high RPM each time, but my wife was like "jesus, did he blow his engine? i thought those little ones were still pretty quick?".
i slowed down and chatted with him for a second. he said it wasnt turbo just a few of the cheaper AC mods. not sure what AC mods are...but he said he thought i had a clk500 with rims and couldnt touch an AMG. i said i wouldnt have raced but i thought he had twin turbo mods. nice guy....fun little adventure. not a fair match but i'm a total newbie with the whole race thing. only thing i remember is to never do a flyby when you get beat.
when i pulled away i realized my air conditioner was on too. now i'm addicted and keep looking around! it's a disease!

actually i hit at the ESP button but missed and turned off the parktronic. it was really a spur of the moment thing. i was lucky i had it in S mode!
i couldnt imagine how fast the little M3 would be with equivalent or greater HP than the clk55. now ive been looking at kleemann or renntech for the cl55 i ordered. definitely gonna hit the track some more and practice.

Nice kill dude. I always wondered what would happen if I met up with an M3 at a stop light. I have yet to race one. I'm still nervous if the day comes.

Hey Stiggs, ya gotta join us on one of the CT meets. Lucky6600 puts them together. I have a slightly modded 96M3, for fun I'll line up against you(which one of your cars are you bringing) don't know how close I'll keep it but it would be fun. There's an E46 M3 that joins us, he would be more fun for you. None of us are crazy when it comes to driving, always looking out for the other guy.

Don't know how many more meets or trips there will be this year but look out for any threads from Lucky6600, he usually sets thing up. Although I'd be biting off more than I can chew, it would all be in fun to match up against you. Your clk55 is that AMG?

Yeah, it's hard sometimes to read a persons humor. Once you know the person a little, it's easier. I find myself making sure I let people know when I'm joking so I don't offend anyone. I've come across some videos of E36 M3's with over 1000hp!!! wonder how long the motor lasts. Still, must be a fun ride

Cool, I'll keep in touch on any word of the next meet or trip that gets organized. It's usually a small group, 4-8 cars, easier to keep control. We always have a blast, I know you'll be looking forward to going to another trip after you join us for your first one. Keep your eyes open for any threads from Lucky6600, he's the man.
