fast wrx!

just fooling around today and i thought this new black sti might want to race...nothin! low and behold an older blue non-sti flies up behind me. at first i thought..."c'mon buddy, you're not even an sti...don't bother". so i punch it from about 50 and this thing only loses a couple car lengths at the most to 130! i let him go ahead of me by about 3 car and he punches it from about 75. it friggin took me to up to 140 to even catch up!!! he probably thought i was going to let off since we were rounding a corner but stupidity got the best of me and i had to make sure he knew i was right there (btw, for future reference our cars don't like to corner at 140...they get a little light ). now i'm thinking wtf does that thing have in it! we finally line up at a stop, bs for a second, and agree to go from a slow roll. we got shut down by traffic at about 80 but it was dead even through first and i was only able to put a car on him by the end of 2nd. i might have cheated myself as i still had the car in d and it had to downshift when i hit it went since it had already shifted to second while we were getting ready.

regardless, this sleeper wrx was the fastest i've seen on the street. he mentioned some of the major mods he had but i don't remember anymore. i do remember him saying he ONLY dyno'd at 370awhp. i'd assume that's at least 450 or more at the crank. maybe my e55 needs to go on a diet!

props to that wrx. upon a closer look it actually it looked like a debadged sti with no tail because it did have the larger hood scoop and brembo brakes. either way, i've always had respect for those cars with the way they launch but this thing was quite impressive even up to 140.

my roommate's STI is a monster. right now its only a stage II (access port, catback, downpipe, intake) but its running mid 12s. It pulls very hard (at least on my C32, even with the pulley kit). I cannot keep up, especially from a dig. If those STIs have front mounts on them watch out. that would mean they probably have an upgraded turbo (more than likely a GT35R). Fastest one Ive seen had 550 awhp. ran low 10s.

he mentioned a few things including, computer and turbo upgrades although i don't recall the specifics...and i could hear the blow-off valve. he also said he hasn't run at the track yet but i wouldn't be surprised if it runs high 11's!

yah. those things sound nasty. i love the BOVs. However, some people dont really know how to use them and just throw on louder ones without tuning it and they end up running rich. i hate to say it (), but ive even actually considered trading in my C32 for one of those STIs.

The guys who did my nitrous install are STi and Evo experts. They've done cars with well over 500awhp, I think one of them was in the 600's. I asked him what he got on the 1/4 mile and he said 10.5 on winter tires.

I would love to get my hands on one of those Boxer Engines and tune the crap out of one. The sounds out the exhaust is music, simply due to the engine layout. I had a run in with one last week. There was a huge accident in which people had to back out an exit. Get on the service road and I come up next to a silver STI, beautiful sounding dual exhaust, I start talking to the guy at the light, turns out he just got it and it has some simple bolt ons on it. We get back on the highway which is EMPTY because all the traffic is still blocked by accident, we both take off from 2nd. Until top of 2nd I was pretty much right on him, Second I get into 3rd, starts spacing me pretty badly. By 120 he was about 8 lengths or so ahead. I hate my k03! POS turbo haha.

LOL. I actually sold my '06 Sti to get into an 02 C32!

The Sti was very fun, and sort of missed. But if you drive a lot the comfort factor plays a big role. Not to mention the cabin noise is very annoying (on the hwy at high speeds) - and I had the stock exhaust. Ideally I would have garage space for both!!
