Harris - I never made any claims, just that a race between me with the stage 3 and a c32 would be a good race

The new A4 platform is not vw-based like the previous platform, now while the engine's are very similar, quattro (If you can make up for the drivetrain loss) is a great assett for stoplight launches and 1320 times...

Anyways enuf with this - All I wanted was to run a c-class

if one has a C32 and spend money on the equal amount of mod as that APR stage 3 A4, the A4 will get smoked for sure.

I'll be happy to run the car stock against stock because there is no real winner in the tuning world. In the tuning world, the more $$ you spend the more hps & torque you get. it's as simple as that.

APR stage 3 INSTALLED is less then five grand (3999 for parts)...Keeping a A4 1.8T's price under 40G with the kit. How much is that Renntech stage 2 cost...? How much power does 5 grand get you on a C32?
What about a race with an A4 with 5-6 grand worth of mods and a c32 with 5-6 grand worth of mods...Fair right?

I have an excellent idea kiddo, why dont you give me 5K and we'll see how a C32 can perform? You dont even get the very basic rule of car tuning: There is NO LIMIT in the car tuning world.

I really hate to answer to this kind of post. Sorry, I had enough, here is my white flag, your "future Stage 3 A4" will be a FAR more superior car than our C32s. Our C32s will be humiliated by your A4. Audi rules!! Are you feeling better now?

Good luck to you and wish you all the best. Just drop a note and tell us what are you going to do if your Stage 3 A4 got beaten by other car (whatever that is).

Value seems to be important to you OusterA4. To that point, I wouldn't spend $4K on an up-market VW, when the same money spent on its 1.8T GTI sister would yield the same results.

I'm not looking to race. Just don't feel the need....

MR-BOB - I respect the fact that you don't feel the need to lose to a superior vehicle...But attack the styling of the a4? Thats a first. I own a 2002 anyways... Money is an issue because I'm 18 and a student in college, and want a nice car that I get to go fast without spending 20K - I realize you are some 35 year old has been who thinks beige is a sporty color and thinks that people will think you are a player because of the three-pointed star of your grille...Your benz is tepid in every way...But I hope I'm not the first one to break this to you...

Have you seen new 03 Accord's coupe's back?
It looks very simlar to SL but two car is totally different cars. so does 90's accord and Audi A4.

if you think Audis are up market VW..then what is the point buying C320 when it ranks ALWAYS below A4 in all the magazine tests!?!?

honestly...what is the MB's advantage over Audi?
1.twin spark V6 engine? TOO OLD!!
2.DBW?
3.rear wheel drive? uh...it doesnt even come with LSD does it?(except C32)
4. finally 03 C class gets projector headlight...WOW!!
...add more if you find more..

1. 30v V6 engine
2. DBW..yeah C&D's review said MB's DBW is sooo slugish
3. Torsen diff All-wheel drive!!!
4. nice sports pkg...C-class still comes in 16in?!?! eww!
5. better interior quaility(hate mb's Chryslerized interior),better looking exterior(also all agreed in many other car review)
6. about $5000 cheaper than MB when smilarly equipped
7. free mantainance for 4 years/50k.....


MB product use to have excellent reliablity..that was better than BMW and Audi

My friend's C240,C320's reliablity is about same as BMW and Audis..

ouch, MB-BOB attacking the look of the A4 is not really fair as OusterA4, neither is attacking someone's age and choice of color. This thread doesnt seem like it will end. Has anyone seen the thread i posted to audiworld as well, I think some of us here on MBworld would be surprise at what ppl. have to say (mostly positive).

WORD YO! actual yeah mostly MB got going for is name brand and styling but thats nothing to sneeze at (every restyling actually look better!). You can buy an equal value A4 or a C class (baby benz) and ppl. will pay more attention to the baby benz. However i still believe (and this is a theory of mine a few friends while we were on something) that MB engines (SOHC 3 valve per cycl v6s and 2valve V8s) are old technology but VERY reliable. However MB electronics are starting to remind me of the 90s Cadillacs where technology is ahead of time but that was also the problem. I just need my C230 coupe to be good for 38 months and MB dealer/service to not be *** and I'd be happy.

Lets tone this down and avoid the hate war between M-B and Audi. Both are legitimate cars (unlike some others who are 'pretenders'), and each has its individual strengths. I dont see what all the fuss is about, except that maybe OusterA4 came in a being a little brash.

I think if you think a SL looks like a honda accord YOU need help. The Sl is a 2 door convert. THE CLK looks like a honda coupe.

1 actually its a V8 there pal!
2 DBW, your A4 has it!
3 RWD, and the problem with that is? I though real sports cars are RWD?
4 We call our sports package AMG, or C7
5 To say ones interior is better than another is a purely subjective opinion of the person
6 So they are a little cheaper. But whos car is worth more in 2 years. Not audi, they have some of the worst resale values out there.
7 we also have free maintanance for 4 years 50K

also...
7...benz dont cover any wearing out parts(like break pad..ect..ect)
Audi's maintance is totally FREE! even they do inspection free..while benz charged me $10

4.I think C320 comes with 16 even with its sports pkg..

How come $40+ rwd sports sedan doesnt come with LSD?!?!

2.yeah i know A4 has DBW..I said MB's DBW is very sluggish...(which also agreed in many reviews)

This weekend will help my old racing buddy race his Audi S4 in the Grand AM race in Daytona, now that's racing and not a straight line. I love racing and make does not matter, would like to try the coupe, but will keep that for auto-x.

A4s are nice cars, but there were virtually no change between a 2002 A4 and the first A4 that hits the market in the early 90s. Well maybe except the head&tail lights, and the door handle.

if you said you are trying to keep the cost below $40k and get the car to go, wouldn't it be faster to get a 03 SVT Cobra, or a 03 Audi A4 3.0 Q? I'm sure it'll meet ur need to go fast without any other complication.

if i had a choice between A4 3.0 Quattro, and the C320, I would pick the A4 3.0 Q. I like sport sedans that are more sports oriented

Frank I'm not talking about muscle cars here, I'm talking about getting pseudo-musclecar performance out of a German luxury sedan. With the A4 I have a AWD car that has Audi's acclaimed interior, room for 5, and all of the luxury ammenties that I want...
BTW, the 2002 A4 is a totally differemt car, the sports packaged A4 out handles the previous generation S4 to give you an idea of the improvement on the car. I do admit I did come on brash only because I know Audi doesn't get the respect on this board as it does on other boards. I do like the M3 and C32 (wish it had stick), and have respect for both companies...A little inter-family rivalry is always fun

i thought the NEW A4 is selling as the 2003 not 2002?!...nevermind. If it's the 2nd generation of the A4, then it's a much heavier car than the 1st generation A4 isn't it??

so with the same mods, i'm thinking that the new A4 will not be the same performer as the older A4.

I love the A4's interior quality btw. personally i think it's much better than the crappy job in the C and the 3er (i had a 328Ci before)

a friend of mine just got a M3, and another friend is looking for a new car. I'm trying to egg him on to get the Next S4...in black of course, so we'll have three beast line up in black.
