I think Jim Brady has already calculated that if I can duplicate my 1.79 60ft I should be in the very low 11.0 second range. Keep in mind my passes yesterday were on the Pirelli Corsa running 44psi, I had not aired down yet. Drag wheels and Micky Thompsons are on their way.
I meant an actual slip with the times/mph as you went down the track. I saw the posted ET and mph and 60' but the rest of the info may help us better understand whats happening.

jrcart, here is a somewhat useful tool for equating 1/4mi performance. It's calculated using a 10%driveline loss(most likely manual trans) so the numbers would be a tad bit off since our cars have close to 18-20% loss

http://www.mercedes-amg.com/CLK_Black_Series/

Actually the US spec CLk63 Black Series weight is reported at 1,760kg or 3,872lbs. This includes 68kg for the driver (150lbs), tank filled to 90% (the 90lbs sounds about right) and 7kg for luggage (15.4lbs). That brings the weight down to 3,617lbs dry. The Z06 dry weight is 3,132lbs. A difference of 485lbs. But you are right that average Vette driver could help reduce that differential.

If the dyno numbers for this thing are accurate, it's putting down about 610 crank with an 18% driveline loss (seems to be typical w/Benzes).

With that kind of power, it should be trapping at 126 mph or so (with a 68kg driver and 3/4 tank; 7kg of luggage wouldn't change it much, so left it in).

However, there are numerous stock Z06s that've trapped at or just shy of this speed, indicating a higher-than-rated horsepower output (Motor Trend estimated at least 530 crank for the one they tested/dynoed in this article; the vehicle ran an 11.6@126.6 1/4 mi if anyone is interested), so this BS shouldn't be pulling any well-driven Z06s by huge margins, to be sure....but therein lies the key: "well driven" is difficult with a car w/that much power. The car might be able to turn high 11s in stock form, but most drivers are not.

From a rolling start, though, where launch is out of the equation, if a driver is a good shifter and doesn't bump the rev limiter, that's a different story.

Put it this way: I'd love to see a video!!

Road&Track 1/4mile times put the CLK 63 Black Series as 1mph slower than the E60 M5 in the 1/4 and 6mph slower than the Z06.

No data for 65-series, unfortunately, but 600 series CL was 0.2mph behind the BS. This is the same mag who use multiple runs to extract the best times and have no bias. Now, I'm not a magazine racer but it's a fair indicator of how quick/fast cars are.

It was a used "broken in" Z06 and, rereading the post, it looks like the challenge was aimed specifically at TMC M5.

Hahaha, interesting thread.

Your black series is a nice car and I'm sure is fast, but those comments about the house and buying a Vanquish were pretty cocky.

I'll race you in my fast C230.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to point out the post where TMC M5 said he could run an 11.5 in a stock Z06? I seem to have missed it.

Tom,
Thanks I was using 75 kg for the driver (165 pounds). The 08 Zo6 with the 2Lz package is a bit heavier than the 3165. There is no published numbers with the luxuary side air bags, accoustic package (sound deadening) or additonal glue to hold the roof on but most vette guys admitt its a biscut over 3200.

Brad, I agree with your post earlier and this one as well. This thread got blown up into some nonsense from Jcart just pointing out that he blew a CLS55 out, and then the Z06 talks. However, the way he responded and several others was just tasteless and childlike. I cannot believe that someone on that level of business dealings would do that much bragging, name-calling, and insulting people. I have never seen that before myself, but oh well.

I have noticed this before, and mentioned it on several threads that several members here have inflated ego's like never seen before. Who cares about you drive 20 cars or million dollar houses? Why post it here? Why insult other members by saying "they will never drive a real car". This is the type of behavior that makes people leave because they want no part of it.

It amazes though, that even though Jcart insulted several members, a great deal because he generalized that he was not put on probation as well like the others were. Somehow this does not seem fair, JMO.

This started out as a fun kill story, but turned into a display of appalling posts.

I was put on probation, when did I "generalize that I was not put on probation"? Want me to forward you a copy of the message?

Also, for the record, TMC M5 and Elliopede182 are the ones that started with the harsh remarks, such as the "daddy's money" comments. I think you guys need to go back and read this one from start to finish and take a closer look at who jumped on who. This one has been beat to death already!

jrcart/Jim:

I immediately apologized for the daddy/money comment....obviously you haven't accepted that apology...but that is your perogative.

Please look back and see that I did respond to your challenge. I admitted that I was no John Force....and stated that I never said that a Z06 could run an 11.5 on stock tires (others have since stated that they have seen a 10.9 on stock tires...but I can only go from what I have seen which is an 11.7-11.9 with a skilled driver). I don't own a Z06...the 10 minutes of driving time would not make me an expert at launching it. There are stronger proponents of the Z06 than I in this thread..who have made far greater claims...what difference does it make who takes up the challenge?

Normally when someone is put on probation, the line below their posting handle on the left side of their posts will change from "MBWorld Fanatic!" or whatever to "ON PROBATION". It did this for others in the thread who responded to you. It did not do this on yours.

For the record, here is TMC M5's first post in the thread:

Tom
Here is your response:

You must have been lying to your wife all these years too! Time to go to Home Depot and invest in a new tape measurer. As for a 600whp vette or Mustang, I would call those both healily modded cars, you are not going to get that with bolt on stuff....maybe a bolt on supercharger!

Bottom line is the only car I have lost a race to was an SLR...in a roll on, and I held my own pretty well, it was not walking hard from me.
I think that most objective people would view the red section of your post as being far more inciteful and "harsh" than anything TMC M5 put in his post. Was this really necessary?

Then, after others responded with a few more points about the horsepower these cars can make, you lit into them with this:

All I said was I beat a GT500 "spanked it actually" and we get all the experts saying this and that, well guess what, I don't know if it had 400 or 600 hp, nor do I care. The first car that hands me a legit smack down, I will be impressed. Further more, my car was not even built for drag racing, it is a road racing car, how many "600 hp GT 500's" do you think will beat me around a road course....let me help you all out ZERO!. I built a car that can do it all, drag race, road race and look great cruising down the blvd.

There is alway going to be someone with a faster car...I just have not run up many yet. The only car that has beat me was an SLR doing roll-ons and I held up better than expected.

Here is a list of the cars I have beaten

Ferarri F430 0-100
Bently Continental GT convert (Frank Thomas) 55-150
CLK 63 Black Series 1/4...by 10 lengths...5-6 times in a row
CLS 55 0-120
Ford Mustang GT 500 -120....real bad
BMW M5 1/4 mile when I was stock by 2 lengths
Porsche Carrera 4S 70-140 or so
Corvette C5 Z05 1/4 mile (I was stock)
My own Lingenfelter CTS-V...real close CLK by a nose
My own Dinan M3 not even a race (I was stock)
Corvette C6 Z06 1/4 mile by a nose (I was stock)
Again: unduly harsh, in my opinion, certainly far more harsh than anything which preceeded it, and definitely uncalled for. The posters are certainly entitled to their skepticism of a car which traps 116-117 pulling a car which traps as high as 127, and this sort of thing goes on in here all the time. No need to get so heated; if you've got a videocam, a few taped runs would settle it.
