well
My mechanic now works at a BMW dealership and he is seeing a lot of problems with tuned 335s. He also said BMW is cracking down hard and keep dreaming about warranty afterwards.

Now ricker's soon going to be all fixed up I'll see how you do against him in the rematch. If you don't get obliterated then you've certainly got a fast 335i and I'd be happy to meet up

Thanks bro!
It was funny when I went down to pick-up my loaner (new Toyota Camry) I spoke to the lead mechanic, as he told me the news I cheered woo-hoo! he looked at me like I was nuts saying "Jeez your excited somethings wrong?" I said yes, I want her to work as intended..

It is true the 335i's are having some problems but its because of the car not the tune. They are having wastegates problems and high pressure fuel pumps failing. It has nothing to do with the tune because 90% of the failures are on bone stock cars with less than 10,000 miles.

I have no problems cars with the n54 being fast and telling people how much better their car is and how it cost 1/3 of the price and its still a BMW.. ect.. ect and its sex on wheels..
but beating a SL600 by a few car lengths will need more than JB3, Intake, FMIC and Race Gas.
I read the post on the E90 forum.. he claims for $500 he can beat a SL600. He just forgot to mention the FMIC, Intake and money spent on lowering the car.
He also claims the SL600 has a full exhaust.. which only really has a straight pipe. Hardly a mod. MB's exhaust do nothing.
The weak argument my car is cheaper and faster is left for the boys in blue, dogde and Chevy. SRT-4-8, LS1, LS2, LS3, cobras ect... and lets not forget the Honda boys.
That argument holds no water around here.
Let's see what happends when both cars run healthy.

Mario's a good guy, but yes he did leave out his other mods, he also has an upgraded Intercooler, in his defense though he's also rockin' 20"s
I just talked w/him on the phn he must be thinking he might get beat once my 600's outta' the shop because he just upgraded the Juicebox software from stage 3 to it's final beta testing level *RACE MAP TUNE*.....He also used Race gas in our race, I'm sure he will on our re-match..
I'll be rollin' w/seat coolers/massage function ON, plus full spare in the trunk
I told him mod the hell out of it! Your going to see a different race once she's fixed... This is going to be a 6 + pager I fear lol.....
Here's his sig info from e90 world.....
He needs to update the ECU info now *RACE MAP TUNE* He also has different Exhaust, not sure if it's just tipps or a cat-back?
I'll try getting video, I bought a new Voyager LG phn it has nice video function..

Yes, the race will be fun and we will have to get it on video. I wanted to clarify my mods, I have JB3 and intakes. I sold the intercooler a couple of weeks ago, and for exhaust I just have 4" tips. Hopefully you will get your SL back today.

I'm really itching to see the results on that box. Although not as tidy as the OEM bit, the improved flow looks to be significant. There's a lot of fury within the M275 just begging to be unleashed. You're going to see some satisfying results!

I just want you to understand that its the same software just a different setting. Yes it does have a slightly more aggressive setting.

I never understood people who talk down on other cars just because they are cheaper.

there is always somebody cheaper and faster... the argument is endless.
Coming from owning a 91, 94,98 Honda Acccord, 96 Acura Integra, 2001 CL-Type S.. I know what I'm talking about.
The reason I posted such comment was due to the 335 driver talking smack of how he beat a $120k car with a car worth $40k and $500 chip.
ready the post bro.

I agree that he should've posted all his mods..and not try to hide the fact he needed to be relatively heavily modded to beat the mercedes.
That in a way makes him a ricer...just like if i said i beat a bugatti veyron off the line and didnt mention the fact that he was parked and he wasn't even driving the car.

wow long thread so im late to the game!
335i is a nice car but watch out turbos tend to go boom with added boost. Warranty does not work well if you have any mods and a turbo job is 13k!! A SL600 should easily walk a 335i so his car is running hard. Just run him a bunch of times until his car runs into limp home mode with excessive coolant temp and very high oil temps. The funny part is that people have not noticed that its not just oil temps causing issues with these 335i's but that coolant hits 274 and that equals a red engine light and limp home mode. For serious use that car needs a intercooler, radiator, and oil cooler upgrade.
As for the "wiggle" you get changing lanes Ricker, that is your tire wiggling around. I have the same issue with my SL55 which has 295/30/19 PS2s as well (on renntech 10.5 inch wide monolites). I will never buy a Michelin PS2 again after having both my E55 and SL55 wiggle all over the place under load. The smooth ride comes from a super soft side wall and that super soft side wall means its wanders all over the place when you put a ton of load through it. If you take your tire, deflate it, and poke your finger into the side wall you will feel a section that is extremely thin and very soft. That wiggle is the tire just flexing like crazy under load. Move to Bridgestones or Yokos next time around and it will feel a ton better.

Damn I thought it might be that, I remember squeezing in on the side walls of the big 295's before install sheet is soft! I thought it might be in the front end because I don't feel it under full throttle while running in a straight line only while changing lanes & especially while changing lanes & punching it!!
Even at slow surface street speeds if I change a lane it freakin' wobbles, I put big 265/35's up front I noticed how the sidewall shape is nice an fatt compared to say Pirellis and others you mentioned..
BTW SL600 should be ready tomorrow, & Mario's ready to run!! He said he just bought a bunch of Torco, hell if he wants to use it during our race so am I......I'll be videoing from my new LG Voyager phn, & perhaps Mario's bro's will tale us and catch it w/real vid cam!!
I told him to just duct tape it to my bumper or will never see his car again lol..
