My SL600 gets a beating vs Heads/cam C6 & modded 335i

I'm tired so just a brief run-down Mario (e55cent) of this forum now owns a nicely modded 335i basically has everything but down-pipes Juice-box stg-X race gas etc.. C6 A6 w/headers X-pipe Head/cam 430+ rwhp, both put a whippin' on me!!

We did multiple rolls from 40-100 km lol (in Mexico) 335i pulled me by 3-4 lengths & then slowly pulled ahead, & always seemed to launch better (faster) on the 3 horn honk than my 2005 SL600 (stock except straight pipe exhaust & new 19" whls) The C6 just ATE ME ALIVE!!

The only thing that could've helped me was leaving her in 2nd on the starts as it didn't feel like it was shifting into 2nd while hammering throtle in D while in Sport rmode rolling @ 40-50 mph, will meet again w/Mario & see if this changes the outcome?

Because he would deff get a great launch even though our honk timing was pretty dead on, he'd jump out 3-4 lengths then hang there slowly creeping away...

Funny when Mario in the 335i ran the C6 he hung in there pretty damn good!!

Vadim are you out there?????? VRP I NEED ECU ASAP!!

I'll try & get Mario to chime in on our runs, it was great fun, though the smack talking afterwards got my German blood boiling!!! I Need a Farging ECU Tune!

ps... Also found a prob w/new 19" whls when changing lanes under full throttle I get a decent wiggle? what the he*l? Only happens when changing lanes? I'm only running 19x10.5 on 295/30 Michelin Ps2 on rear WTF

ECU tune should make a huge difference on that car.

Cooling mods are a good idea too. Renntech's ECU/TCU produces the most power from what I've seen.

SL600 = 493 hp/590 lb TQ

Lost to a 335i, what are you kidding me?

Are you sure your SL600 is performing at full capacity?

335's are formidable when tuned and respond very well to simple modifications. Had the race gone top end, the outcome would have been different. However, in that bracket modified ones are tough to beat.

That being said, the R230 SL600 also shares this mod-friendly characteristic. So ricker, get on that bro!

Also, I was browsing around VRP's site and that Scorpion intake setup is making me drool. Any idea what kind of power gains it has over the OEM box?

I was thinking the same thing. He may have an intercooler pump going south.

Hey Sean, yesterday was a lot of fun. I guess the new Juice Box 3 really makes a difference :-) I'm sure once you get the tune it will be a differenct story but you know I will have to get downpipes giving me another 30whp.

The C6 Vette is crazy fast and that pissed us both off. For just only having headers, cam and tune, I couldn't believe how fast it is.

Let me know when you get the TUNE because I would love to see you beat Mikes C6.

Later,
long live BMW MB

Tough to run with any of the new Vettes, even the non-Z06 2008 C6 has been upgraded to 437 hp and you can pick up one of those for $40K.

I believe my 600 is performing correctly, you doubters on 335i's when nicely modded you need to give props when due there making North of 400 rwhp & even more torque, they are in the 11's down the 1/4.....

I tell it like it is, when loose or draw....

Edit: you need to read this, forum member here w/highly modded M6!

Just wish it was as easy to mod my car as it is to mod that one lol
Modded 335i is no joke..

Subscribed!! Also I'll have you guys chk her over for any problems that need attn I have a full 5 yr warranty, so you could send her over to your MB dealer for any covered work

I doubt it's suffering a failing intercooler, I've ran down many a fast car before last night, I'd actually love to hear it was though

I agree. That's a HUGE beatdown (the 335) by a car that MIGHT trap 2-3mph faster than yours if driven perfectly.

Something is definitely up. Were you holding your gear and brake boosting? Sounds like he definitely was!

Keep us posted.

The clip above is from a JB2R. Mario has the new/updated JB3 (Juicebox 3) on his E90 335i (sedan). It hasn't been released to the public as yet. Expected release is end of August. This is a clip of the JB3 (not Mario).

I have a hard time believing this even though I own a 335xi now...... I know the R230 is much heavier but it shouldn't have done this with just a change of tune......

Is your 335i tuned? The JB3 made a huge difference in my car. With the JB2 and everything else stock I was able to do a 1/4 mile in AZ at 12.8 at 109mph.

I have a Stage3 s4 ~450 AWHP after a 25% drivetrain loss and I'm scared to run a fully tuned one. Most of you MB guys are all N/A. With a turbo car upping the boost gives insane gains. Freeing the exhaust is even more. Think of it this way, on a E90 335/ B5 S4 you can get an easy 60-80 HP from an ecu tune and another 30-40 by removing cats and resonators. So you now have an extra 90-120 Hp from an chip and exhaust. Gota love turbos.

I have seen many 600's trap close to 120 mph. There is no way a car that traps in the mid teens should walk you by 3-4 car lengths. Unless this 335i is a freak and traps over 120. I say IC pump is not functioning properly or cannot keep up with back to back sprints.

We will run again after The Ricker gets back from the dealer. I'm guessing Wednesday or Thursday for a rematch.
