Light to Light Fun with a C6

I hate when 2 fast cars try to line up at a red light, and some person decides to switch lanes so they can be first at the light.. in that case, I did wat was mentioned above =)
Sounds low compared to all the biturbo V12 dynos around here.......but I only weigh a little over 3100 pounds so that should put me at or a little over 120 through the traps.
He was prolly heat soaked but said his C6 felt fine & strong, we ran (2) races from about 20 mph thru 130 mph both times we were DEAD even best fun I've had to date w/my SL
Only mods I have is listed in my sig + I ran RACE gas that day...
I used to own 2005 LS2 C6 w/3.90 gears/ A4 trans/ Kook's longtubes Kook's X-pipe w/200 cell cats/ Bullet cat-back/ Vararam intake CAI/ FAST Intake manifold/ Throttle body spacer/ Under Drive pulley's/ 345 ps2's Z06 wide body/Z06 19x12 whls etc.. I know how fast they can be when modded

Nice run Tom!!

I've talked to a couple tuners & they say "there's NO HP to be gained doing this" I disagree since ALL forced induction cars need/love to breathe, also RENNtech/Brabus/Kleemann ALL offer aftermarket free flowing exhaust systems w/larger piping advertising extra HP/Torque on the Biturbo models..On N/A car there is little if any HP to be had doing this, it's just for better sound
From SOTP I'd swear the car made more power esp on top end, I'm waiting for ECU/TCU before dyno I'll do pre-post dyno's & post them here..
What's the SOTP diference between your tuned 600 & your old SL65? I know the RENN/Kleemann ecu/tcu 600 out trap the stock 65 by 4-5 mph in the 1/4 mile....Just curious on your opinion?

Just took off all the crap (mufflers and resonators) in the back as an experiment. The cats are still on. There is 0 drone at idle, full throttle, or at cruise. The sound is definitely exotic. When I run the tranny in manual mode where I can get the rpm's get up above 2500, it sounds real mean. The car just sounds great. It should've sounded like this from the factory, but alas, I know It's an S Class, The Pinnacle of Luxury from MB. Compared to other cars where I have taken off mufflers, this car is quiet. I truly believe I gained some HP. Can't prove it yet. I need to get to RennTECH and use their dyno. They dynoed me last at 501 rwhp. The only thing that bothers me a little, is that if I rev the car in neutral, it takes a longer time for the revs to come down. Like the back pressure from the mufflers helped to slow the turbos down. That's the only negative side effect so far. Maybe I can get my wife's video cam and capture a sound clip. Never done that before, but I'll give it a shot.I had the 65 RennTECH tuned right after I got it. The 65 was just a beast. But that was an SL. The car I have now is an S. There's a big weight difference between the two. The 65 was definitely faster. But this big old car doesn't seem like it's real fast from sitting behind the drivers seat, it's a different feel. The SL felt more like a sports car. That's what it was. The only way I can tell is when I line up against a vette or the such, and blow them away!

Actually, this is true: in many cases manufacturers deliberately use back pressure in the exhaust system to damp the responses of the turbos to prevent overspin (turbo spinning beyond its maximum safe operating speed), which can cook your turbos; it depends upon how the system is designed, though. I recall reading somethere that Subaru had a pretty strict warning about this for their WRXs, where they basically stated that a low-restriction exhast could damage the turbo.
