Light to Light Fun with a C6
On Sunday I was coming up to a light on a three lane road where there was already one car in each lane. In the middle lane was a kind of Burgundy Red C6. It didn't look like he had exhaust or anything. I pulled directly behind him. The light turns green and he gets ahead of the other two cars in the left and right lane. I was right on his tail. As soon as there was enough room for me to pull into the other lanes...you could see and hear him downshift. I then nailed the throttle...bolted into the right lane and walked him easily up about 80mph. He then had to tuck in behind my as we approached the next light. He made a right turn two lights later. He kind of looked a little perplexed when I was looking at him in the rearview mirror. I was hoping he would have followed me onto the highway (the next light).

too funny, I had the same kind of race the other day against a gto 5.7 he was cool about it tho saying how he thought my car was badass etc...
I hate when 2 fast cars try to line up at a red light, and some person decides to switch lanes so they can be first at the light.. in that case, I did wat was mentioned above =)

Your sig says straight pipes. I've done the same thing on my S600, and love the sound. It's amazing how quiet it still is without any mufflers or resonators. Have you done a before and after dyno to see if there is any loss or gain? I haven't had the time yet. Just pulled them off 2 weeks ago.

I've talked to a couple tuners & they say "there's NO HP to be gained doing this" I disagree since ALL forced induction cars need/love to breathe, also RENNtech/Brabus/Kleemann ALL offer aftermarket free flowing exhaust systems w/larger piping advertising extra HP/Torque on the Biturbo models..On N/A car there is little if any HP to be had doing this, it's just for better sound
From SOTP I'd swear the car made more power esp on top end, I'm waiting for ECU/TCU before dyno I'll do pre-post dyno's & post them here..

What's the SOTP diference between your tuned 600 & your old SL65? I know the RENN/Kleemann ecu/tcu 600 out trap the stock 65 by 4-5 mph in the 1/4 mile....Just curious on your opinion?

Interesting, did you replace w/3" piping? Mines very loud on throttle but off @ idle & in cabin ZERO droan & very tolerable, the SL didn't come w/resonators just cats/mufflers...

I had the 65 RennTECH tuned right after I got it. The 65 was just a beast. But that was an SL. The car I have now is an S. There's a big weight difference between the two. The 65 was definitely faster. But this big old car doesn't seem like it's real fast from sitting behind the drivers seat, it's a different feel. The SL felt more like a sports car. That's what it was. The only way I can tell is when I line up against a vette or the such, and blow them away!

Actually, this is true: in many cases manufacturers deliberately use back pressure in the exhaust system to damp the responses of the turbos to prevent overspin (turbo spinning beyond its maximum safe operating speed), which can cook your turbos; it depends upon how the system is designed, though. I recall reading somethere that Subaru had a pretty strict warning about this for their WRXs, where they basically stated that a low-restriction exhast could damage the turbo.

Unless your rockin' a C6 Z06 I doubt it, I have the smaller 5.5 V12 Biturbo 600 model vs Tom's 65 AMG 6.0 liter....Anyhow I ran a Manual C6 LS2 6 speed w/3.42 gearing (The owner "Dwayne" can drive it well) Supercharged C6 Maggie MP112 w/Longtube headers X-pipe etc...about 500rwhp 450rwto....
He was prolly heat soaked but said his C6 felt fine & strong, we ran (2) races from about 20 mph thru 130 mph both times we were DEAD even best fun I've had to date w/my SL
