I'm not assuming anything. Go to the forum and get the facts. Yeah I know my Clk55 looks like any Clk body. But what I payed for a used one was a bargain. Don't get me wrong the RS4 is a nice car but overpriced. The C63 is a bargain for $60k. The 4doors is holding me back to buy one.
Simply put, the RS4 is an exclusive, limited-production vehicle. You pay a price for exclusivity. If you don't care about exclusivity, and evaluate cars simply by how fast they accelerate, then buy a Fox-body Mustang and build the crap out of it. You will have a 10 second car for less than $15K.

Depreciation has hit the RS4 hard and you can pick up an '06 or '07 in the $50k range. Not bad for the 2nd fastest production 4-door around the 'ring, behind only the monster CTS-V.

It's all relative to income/available cash. If you've got $$$$ bux, the $19K which is the price diff between the C63 vs. the RS4 is insignficant. One small deal/case/transaction/surgery. If you are short on cash, the difference is huge. Then again, if you are short on cash, you should be looking at cars in the four-figure range, not the high five-figure range.

You're thinking in *one* dimension - straight line speed. The fact that the RS4 will get trounced in a highway roll race, yet is still seconds faster than all but one of its competitors around the 'ring -- where handling and braking factor in -- says a lot about its overall dynamics. The CTS-V has nearly 140hp and greater than 230ft-lbs more power than the RS4... so it's no surprise it's faster.
There are similar conversations to this that happen on the Audi boards... a stage 3 B5 S4, which can be had for sub-$20k, will leave the RS4 (and most cars on the road) for dead in a stoplight race as well. I didn't quite understand how great the RS4 was -- despite its power deficit -- until I had mine for about a week or so... and once I had it broken in (1500 miles), I really started to "get it".
A lot of the enthusiast world scoffs at MBZ because of their lack of manual transmission and inability to consistently go around corners fast. I like AMGs, and even regular Benzes. Please don't be one of those ignorant fanbois that is blinded by ignorance and arrogance. Those guys are all over on M3post.

You gents seem to be arguing opinion. The RS4 looks like a beautiful monster and can back it up. The C63 looks like a stylish beast and can also back up its looks. Both cars are exclusive and have separate strengths. I would take either one. The C63 would be a blast to drive as it has remarkable power and handling. The RS4 has less power, but has superb handling and quattro. It only takes one good storm (rain or snow) to appreciate quattro. As far as C32 and CLK55, I am still loving my C32 so I respect both cars. Liking one car doesn't mean having hate for another. Otherwise my bugatti (in fantasy land) would have me hate all of the cars listed.

I came here to give a thumbs up and hopefully connect with the C32 I ran into (and I accomplished that). Most of you guys here have been cool about it and are true automotive enthusiasts. In fact, an Audi buddy of mine saw the thread and said, "That is the most civil thread in a car forum on the entire internet"... clearly that was before Jon came in to play. I guess there's always that "one" guy eh?
