Black C32, guy said he had a pulley, tune, cats removed, weight reduction, and resonated exhaust.
Quick! It was just about even, if not a hair faster than my RS4 from a roll to 100mph.
Cool guy, anyhow. Glad to see the car well-represented.

If that run occurred in Mexico, that was me. Awesome runs dude! Probably the closest I have ever had. Your car sounds like a freaking jet taking off as it winds up. My son was like "jeez man, what would some mods do to that thing?"
Yours is the B7 RS4, right (I saw the "V8" on the fender). Like the charcoal color. . . really sweet car.
I had about a 1/4 tank of gas, but had a 35 pound slab of marble in the trunk and about 200 more of driver/passenger weight than you did (I am 225 and my son is about 140). Not trying to do the "would have smoked you if" thing, just trying to allow for accurate comparisons between the cars.
My mods are as follows: Evosport pulley, Powerchips ECU tune, SL55 intake, K&Ns, resonator delete, Magnecore wires, IK20 plugs, Optima battery, 17 lb. wheels with lightweight tires filled with helium. Other relevant facts: The 2002 C32 did not come with a spare, and my car remains that way. Also, mine is one of the few C32s without a sunroof, so there goes another 70 lbs or so.
In any case, nice ride and nice runs.

Yup.. Mexico... or thereabouts ;-)
That's the first real run-in I've had in the RS4. It's got just over 2800 miles on it! I had also JUST come from the gas station, prepping for a trip up to Orange County later today![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm loving the car, even if it's not the fastest thing around. The engine sounds are great -- I'm definitely considering improving that with an exhaust.
Unfortunately there really aren't any mods for that car that do anything in the power department... maybe 10-20 hp. MTM has a supercharger, but it's obscenely expensive ($30k?). VF is working on one that will be closer to $15k, hopefully bumping it up close to 550hp. 91 octane is just too much of a limiter, as Audis knock sensor correction is pretty sensitive.
What kind of power do you think you're making? Even stock you make more torque than the RS4 (measly 317 ft-lbs)... RS4 weighs in just a hair under 4k lbs (3957 or so). No spare here either; battery's in the trunk instead. I'd assume you're making more HP @ the crank than the RS4 (420), with less drivetrain loss and less weight... so I was a bit surprised it was as close as it was.
Sounds like my B5 S4 would be a better match!
I was shopping for a C32 for my girlfriend a little over a year ago (which is why I signed up here) but she opted for better fuel economy and got an A4 2.0T. Those C32s are great cars, though I rarely see any around here in SD!
Do you ever take it to Qualcomm or out on a road course? I'm heading up to Willow Springs in a couple weeks with NASA in my S4... some of you MBZ guys should come out!

Wow, if those dyno #s in your sig (jturkel) are representative of what Vomit's doing... that's way more power than the RS4 is making (generally in the 320-330whp range), and similar to the AWHP #s the S4 makes.... would be a fun run for sure.

I used to do Carlsbad for the 1/4, but the strip is now a housing development. I have always wanted to do the Qualcomm 1/8, but just have not checked it out. PM me if you are going to go run there and I will join you, or post it and let's get a MBZ crowd to rep the label there. I have never tracked my car (other than straight-line), but Willow Springs might be a good time to learn. Post details.
What do stock B7 RS4s run in the quarter? They seem to be all over the board on dragtimes. I saw a comparison with the M5 where they had the RS4 at 13.0/108. Sound right? My best time with my car is a 12.8/112, but I usually run around a 13/110, which is pretty average for a C32 with my mods. Maybe with a good track and more launch skills, I could break into the mid twelves. I have yet to break the two second barrier for the 60.
Turkel, I am just doing the SL55 splitter. Is the full tube/box setup a big improvement?

I am guessing that I am at about 400/330 HP (engine/wheel). Hence, my extra weight in our run brought us up to about equal acceleration.

Vomit is making less power i believe. he is running a smaller crank pulley than i (178 mm vs my 185, about a 4-5psi difference). i've got a different tune and a diff intake. if only i had 93 octane, i would be putting down some really nice numbers with a tune for 93 as i am running a conservative 91 tune. i think i also have one of the stronger dynoing cars, considering i am in AZ with high temps, DAs, and crappy gas, but who knows....im still trying to find an RS4 to race.
just the splitter has only shown 5whp if any at all in the past. i think you only see the full gains of the splitter with larger inlet hoses and boxes, which are 25% bigger. i dont have a dyno to prove it, but there have been several threads in our c32 subforum about only seeing minimal gains from just the splitter

Wheels are Flik Lex 17". They are not expensive. Something liike $120 each. One of the few lightweight wheels which easily clears our front calipers without spacers. Their look is not for everyone, however (no flash/no chrome, which I like, especially with a black car). I also bought a set of black 18" Flik Artics (their spelling, not mine). Not quite as lightweight as the Lex, but much more flash and (again) fit the C32 without spacers. I have also noted that the car corners/handles MUCH better with the 18s, although the ride is a little harsher as well. Less sidewall, I guess. Check out Edgeracing.com for the Lex and the Artics.
I will check out the airbox idea.

Vomit, I PM'd you with this, but I'll post it here too:
NASA event @ Willow Springs... Hope some of you SoCal guys can make it out!

Unfortunately you won't get a crack at the RS4, as my (faster) S4 will be out there instead enjoying its ~450awhp on 110 octane ;-)

My max HP comes 1500 RPM later too.
No way it takes the RS4 from a dig, but from 40-120? Possible.

20VB5- your RS4 looks absolutely magnificent....just wow with the factory chrome delete package....Do you have any more pics? Does it have the luxury package?
I really wanted to trade my M3 when these RS4s came out but I just couldn't make the figures work...oh well still love my E46 M and think it's the second best looking car on the road...trouble is the B7 RS4 is the first imho...![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

The huge lbs difference kills the car. I ran the 6.0L 400hp GTO 6spd from a roll and walked it. They lbs about the same as the RS4. So many people underestimate the Clk55. Recently I walked a 2000 Pont ram air trans am with 310whp 6spd which is about the same lbs as mine. I'm getting my car dynoed![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

You really think you could go hang with a RS4? I don't even think you could've beaten my B5 S4... although, thinking about it now I don't think an RS4 could either.

From a dig a modded RS4 gets me out the hole, but by the time they reach between 100mph and 110mph in less than a mile,I start to catch the RS4 V8 (modded as well) and start to pull and will have it by two to three cars. This was the case consistantly on several runs vs TWO of them in Mexico.
I have also seen a modded E39M5 do this to the RS4 V8. I'd love to own one though as I like the way the motor sounds thru the exh. It also has a six spd manual tranny.
I believe a stck W208 CLK55 will give a RS4 a run for the $$ and start giving it hell up top.

Believe me by NO MEANS do I defend Jon at aLL, but I will speak from my expeience.

I would like to see a W208 vs. the RS4. I'm pretty confident the quattro advantage would help it off the line and the HP advantage will keep it pulling up top.
In the end though, I would still take the RS4. It's a work of art that car...

I really just have a run-of-the-mill Stage 3 car. K04 turbos, AWE fueling, Evolution Racewerks intercoolers, AWE downpipes and exhaust. Stock motor, modified stock intake (really just some giant holes cut into the airbox).
It only does about 350-360whp on our crappy 91 octane as the knock sensors kick in and retard timing a bunch (max ~5 degrees advance at peak boost and 15 degrees advance up top-- if it's a good day).
![](http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f80/Devious27t/MISC/AWE_RSK04_463whp.gif)
Though on race gas it's another ballgame entirely. I haven't had my car dyno'd, but a car with a nearly identical setup did 462awhp on a Mustang dyno on Sunoco 104 (the same car that made 367whp on 91 pisstane on the same hardware). On 91 octane, our acceleration data is about the same, so it shouldn't be too far off on race gas. My car has always loved 110 octane... really gave it a significant bump with my stock turbos (brought a 8.6@83 in the 1/8 down to an 8.0@87 - 110 vs. 91, respectively)
Of course this relies on having a race gas tune to take advantage of the added octane.
It was my daily driver for 2 1/2 years until I got the RS4 a couple months ago.

Yup, a healthy stage 3 B5 S4 is definitely faster than the RS4 in a straight line

You can see more pics here http://community.webshots.com/user/twentyvalveb5 and read about how I acquired such a magnificent car here http://www.visceralthirst.com
