**SRT8 440 Jeep vs. SL63 AMG** Killed

Here is a video I took of my latest victim!! I just parked this morning and an SL63 AMG went by and I said I want to run one of them. The guy and his buddy stopped and said lets go. So off we went. The first run I didn't get on video, he hit it first and pulled about 2 cars, I hit it and off we went!! I went by him like he was standing still at 130!! I talked to the passenger who used top manage Security Dodge back in the day, he said when I went by he almost oppened the door to get out, he thought the AMG had stopped!!

Your SRT8 is definitely faster. His car is a mid-12 second 1/4 mile car with the top up, probably close to 13 with the top down.

Next time out you'll have to go looking for a modified 55K or 600TT Benz. That will be more of a challenge.

+1 Jeep SRT8 weigh about 5000lbs? his modded SRT8 is heavier & putting down less TQ than average stk SL600 which weigh 4300-4400lbs modded SRT8 will get abused in Freeway roll match-up Top dwn racing SL is like a huge air brake lol..

SL63 run 12.5-12.9 @ 109-111 & weigh 4500+ lbs add in Driver + passenger in SL63 puts it close to 4900lbs w/much less TQ IE 465 crank TQ vs 516-600TQ on SL55/600 models

SL63 still put up a decent struggle for a second considering Top dwn & weight, the extra 100 odd TQ didn't look that impressive...

Don't know where you live, but I ran a stroked jeep SRT8 at the dragstrip weekend before last. It got out of the hole mean, but I ran it down and passed it before the end of the 1/4. Funny thing was I was running on a bad IC pump that night. My car is in the shop now getting fixed up for this weekend.

I haven't seen you around in awhile. I hope they got those problems sorted out.

What does 440 in the title refer to? It isn't cubic inches as a is take a 6.6 to break the 400 mark....

The OP has a nicely modified SRT8 that runs mid 11s. Check out his mod list.

Stock SRT8s run high 12s to low 13s.

Not much effort is required for any of the stock R230s or most any late model AMG to outrun a stock SRT8 but it'll take a well running 65 or modified 55K or 600TT to outrun the OP's modified car.

FWIW....

Take a look at the prices for that 440CID......................you can definately tell they know it has some M-B parts in the engine(because it sure has M-B prices). For a mere $4,000 extra you can add 23bhp/20tq with a port and polish job.

Don't mean to discount your kill but did you agree to give them a 1.5 car head start? Usually if you find someone who chats with you first and then says "let's go", it means line it up and then run either from a dig or roll. Were drivers of both cars new to street races so no one knew how to line it up before pulling? There's no doubt a mid to high 11-second truck will beat an unmodded SL63 but make it look like a real race and not a rice race.

No, they didn't. An MB rep is out here today looking at it...again...they found the intercooler system is leaking because the res keeps getting low, but they can't find where it's leaking from. It's still running stupid hot and burning up pumps. 196 degrees after a short run on my datalogger. Average on the drive home 164 degrees.

That was actually our second run, the first one I went screaming by at 140, we turned around I grabbed my camera and waited for him to punch it. The passenger gave me the 123 and we took off. The rest is history, a couple of good guys in that car, he is bringing his Z06 next year.

Nice ride but he gave up at 130mph. If you two went from a roll, he would probably pull on you at 130mph.

Wrong.

They run mid/high 12s at low-mid teens. They are quicker than the SL55 and have a distinct gearing and transmission advantage.

Also they weigh 4334lbs to 4431lbs.

Well, no, not exactly.

Stock SL55s also run mid to high 12s trapping in the low to mid teens. The reason why the times are so similar is that while the SL63 has the faster shifting gearbox the SL55 has significantly more torque, with peak torque of 530 ft lbs versus 465 ft lbs for the SL63.

FWIW....

Top down, lower speed. A high speed roll with it's top up and it will probably come around you at 130mph. It was like he was "standing still at 130mph", he wasn't on the gas.

I'll say the SL63 on any given day will run a quicker time at a higher mph next to a stock SL55. By only a little bit though. Faster shifting AND better ratios ftw, my prediction.

The passanger words were "his foot was on the ground and the Jeep went by so fast that I was going to get out because I thought he had stopped!!" I will have Propain confirm the story hopefully Sunday!!
