How to drive C 280?

This is not really a kill story, so bear with me. I figured this is the best forum to post this in, though. I want some advice on how to drive a 1995 C 280 in a race situation. I'm not a really big street racer and don't plan on doing anything drastic to my car to make it lightning fast, I just like to have fun every once in a while. I'm a very experienced driver, so I do know how to control a car in high speed situations, but this is is a new car to me and I'm too familiar with how to drive it agressively. The last CAR I owned had a five speed manual in it mated to a 6 cyl. engine with the same HP as this car, but more torque and front wheel drive. It was a 93 Nissan Maxima SE. Now I've notice that this car has very limited low end grunt. Also, the transmission selector has "2" and "3". What shift patterns do these selctions have and what are their purpose? Any advice anyone could give me would be helpful, like stuff to watch for in the car's behavior and what will and won't screw up the car transmission wise. Thanks.

Davis please let me speak for the rest of the people on the road when i say that if you dont know what the 2 and 3 on you tranny mean that you probably shouldnt even begin to worry about street racing.. On the street there are soo many damn variables that come into play.. and if you dont have your brain preprogrammed on how to react to different situations the only thing youll do its hurt yourself which i personally dont give a damn if anyone wants to hurt themselves.. but you might hurt someone else..

Haha, I had a '95 c280 before. Don't plan on racing anything with less than 3 axles.

That 4-speed auto tranny is NOT meant for quick acceleration. The equally-powered Maxima seems much quicker.

XtacyOD, there's no need for rudeness, as you have no idea where I driven and what I know. I have lived in 3 major cities in Texas (Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio) and have driven on both coasts as well as in the midwest (Los Angeles, Boston, St. Louis, Chicago). I've seen the best and worst roads in the U.S. as well as some good cities with good drivers and ones with horrible drivers. I've been there and done the bobbing and weaving in and out of traffic at speeds exceeding 100 mph when I was younger and stupider. I know how to handle a car. I have a piece of my friends side marker from his '01 GT Mustang he slammed into a Pathfinder at 70 mph racing his borhter, both were unexperienced drivers.

Also, certain transmissions do certain things. Take my dad's BMW for instance. The selectors in that car do not necessarily mean what they say. What they do is dependant upon what mode you're in. Just because you're in four doesn't only mean that it will not shift in to OD, it completely changes the shift pattern of the tranny. Also, take a newer GT Mustang, you can actually drop it to "2" and use it for more power without haveing to step on the brake or push a button. However, in my friend's '97 Z28 you have to push a button to drop it from OD to D and you cannot go into 2 or 1 without stopping the car first. My question was simply how does a Mercedes 4-speed auto work in those settings?

I do recognize that this car is not a race car. It doesn't have near the low end pick up. I just wanted some advice on how the tranny works in this thing.

I heard it through a friend of mine and I was like, "I gotta download that song!" By the way, my question in the thread was answered in the W 202 forum.
