SL55 v frisky 335
I guess when it rains, it pours! After my wheelie throwing sport bike buddy, not 3 days later I get a rather frisky 335.
I was running late for a meeting (as usual), and was trying to pick off the drones with regularity, when I can see in my mirrors a 335 slashing through traffic as well. Maybe he thought that I was racing him... NOT. I just had to get where I was going, when I see that he is making an effort to insert himself in my trunk. OK, kid.... I really don't think you have anything to worry about as far as my SL55 holding you up.
He slots in behind me at a light, with the other two lanes already full, and not 1/4 mile down the road, we lose two of the lanes, heading to another light.... so I figured I had better play the loud pedal so that I can just be a little late, rather than be stuck in droneville. I think 335 boy thought I was challenging him, for as soon as we clear the intersection, he darts out with a hopeless pass attempt. The three lanes merge to one and back behind me he falls.
I glance in my mirrors and I can see that by the tell tale rocking, he is revving his engine. Hmmmmmm. The next section of road is straight for another 1/4 mile, followed by a sweeping left. Generally, as soon as a corner is thrown in, it's game over. But this 335 is definitely frisky!
Light goes green and I am off!. The SL55 reels in the straight like a scalded cat, but the 335 is making an effort! I jog to the right to set for the corner, and he isn't backing off, but instead of looking up the inside, he tries an impossible outside maneuver. I bet that he was thinking I was probably done when the corner came....... he didn't know me!
Even if he's got some skills, the line he took along with the power deficit just wasn't going to make it happen... and it didn't. I was frankly too busy focusing on my line to see just how far back he ended up. To the next light (and my meeting) we pull. I waved and tried to say hi, but all I got was the straight ahead stare. Oh well, I made my meeting almost on time!

I agree, it is the worst when you're driving swiftly but responsibly and 335s and similar think you are trying to race and perform a series of dangerous maneuvers to prove themselves. I usually just slow down, but the downside is that it makes me late. Better late and safe though.

I actually just came from a full bolt on 335i and just picked up an 05 e55.
I loved the 335i but there are just too many now and more and more of them are idiots. It bothered me when I used to see some 335i's doing that...
