Killed a 335i
With my 6MT G of course! My baby benz still needs more power hahaa. I honestly love this section of the forum! Anyways this guy kept on coming next to me on the freeway and downshifting.. well after a little I got mad and we ran them. My car isn't stock so I felt confident, well we went from 70-155ish, and the VQ engine in the G37S pulls hard at high rpms, anyways at 150ish had him by over a car. My friend took a picture of the speedo but I might get arrested if I post it up

Exactly. And is "killed" really the right word for a car length? Or I'm sorry "over" a car meaning a car length and a bumper? How far exactly did you win by? And it depends on the mods on your G37. You were modded, he was stock...its not a great victory, certainly not a 'kill'. and the VQ engine in the G37S pulls hard at high rpms that's the funniest part.

Yea the 335 was stock, well for a boosted car its easy to make power!
The G has intake and test pipes, and it does pull hard after 6000rpm, look at some dynos!
You have no clue what you're talking about, a vq37vhr makes power at high rpm, look at the vvel system and the high compression ratio. And peoples faces when they get beat by a G in their 335 is priceless! Most 335 owners know nothing about the vq37's internals and how good of an engine it really is. Oh and don't compare TT g's to 335, those things spank m3s all day!

Thats cool but I'm not talking about ancient cars, I'm talking about what the company is producing in the current day. In the current day Mercedes uses V shaped 6 cylinder engines. Sure there have been good Inlines 6s back then (RB26DETT is one of the best engines out there in my opinion). My comment was made for MODERN cars, from what I see every gasoline from Benz today is V shaped. And no reason to be harsh, just because BMW uses ancient technology we don't need to throw words around!

hi guys i had to join this forum just to comment on this so called kill story . im not a troll :and im a long time member of bimmerforums . i have a 1996 alpina b8 with 47 k on the clock . ok on to this kill story . ok im sorry but a g37 does not walk a 335 at those speeds . i few yrs ago i had a 97 m3 with some bolt on's with a 3:91 lsd and i had it lightened to 2900 lbs and i ran a g37 very similar to yours from a slow roll at 20k and it wasnt much of a race so i have a hard time with u saying u beat a 335.
p.s. bmw's inline 6 might be an ancient engine but its still one of the best engines ever and it still used today and will be for many yrs
cheers

I'm guessing OP is a troll and just smiling at the responses. If he's not a troll, God help us. N54 motor wins engine of the year several years in a row, but he's bashing that while singing the praises of an awful Nissan motor that is continually called out for being harsh, noisy, unbalanced, and unrefined. Lol

I really like both cars, enough that I almost bought a G37S. For sure the 335i was stock, but I do know that an Injen dual intake alone adds about 16-18whp on the G, so I'm guessing you meant that it pulled harder at high RPM's than a stock G37. Still if the 335i had just a $500 JB4 chip, then its bye bye

Cool! Not too many 55's here for sure. People don't know about them either, they sure are surprised at some point in one way or another. I fix the car myself cause I don't trust anybody to work on this thing... I buy my parts and oils at MB south shore they are nice. I'd switch to California anytime lol!

Ran my buddies G37 this weekend a couple times for fun with my 99 E55 AMG. I walked away from him 3 times. The 335 is a much closer race for me so Im guessing the OP may be trolling..

ffkkkkkkk somethings wrong with my car then because I remember I raced my buddy's g35 with a bunch of boltons from a roll and we were pretty even. Then I raced my other buddy's brand new g37 bone stock and it was even if he wasn't slightly pulling on me because its shifts faster. I think this was when I was stock and had my heavy 19s and I had a passenger.

Never owned a G37/370z but driven more than you can shake a stick at.
Lets be fair here. For an NA motor in a sub 40K car its pretty damn good. No its not the smoothest or the most powerful, but it does what it was intended to do. Comparing it to a twin turbo inline 6, obviously the potential for modding is in favour of the inline 6, and an inline 6 is one of the well balanced engines produced, so again the inline 6 dominates there. Its as bad as when people talk **** about GMs LSX engines, the m3 guys bashing the LS3 only makes 30hp more and still uses pushrods.
G37 beating a 335 from a slow roll to maybe 90ish i could see but any sort of race that goes past 100mph is definately in the 335's favor. once you start modding the 335 its pretty much game over for the Z.
For the record, the fastest stock 370Z is trapping 108mph(12.9@108). Actually the 07-08 350Z with the HR motor i think holds the highest trap bone stock at 109mph. As far as 1/4 mile goes stock to stock which is the only fair scenario the Z is a faster car. Fastest stock 335 trapped 105mph (13.2@104 quickest ET)
Just tired of seeing people bash other cars on forums. It gets old.
Oh and yeah i always get a laugh of people saying they destroyed/kill someone elses car. Killing someones car is not beating them by 1-2 car lengths. Killing is in the bus lengths. 1-3 car lengths is beating, 3-5 is a putting a beatdown, and killing is bus lengths.
I got beat by a friends friends srt-10 viper from a 30 roll. apparently he "killed" me, i didnt know 1-1.5 cars from 30-120mph was killing, especially considering its a basically stock e55.

Ok I'm new here and have only had my 2001 CLK 430 for three days, I have been around, driven, and even worked on lots of different cars in my lifetime. Owned several fast cars, fox body stangs, camaros, even had a chrysler conquest tsi. But this afternoon on my way in to the plane in my new to me ride, a 2004 GTO, that was most definitly modded as it was loud enough to here with the windows up and stereo on followed me onto the freeway. now GTO's are respectable cars, fast and loads of power to start off with. As i have never owned or driven one of these CLK 430's before I figured I was toast as I know the GTO. Boy were both of us wrong. Starting from a 50 roll we both took off, yes he was very loud and got at least 1 to 1 1/2 lengths on me from the start. But from my surprise as well as his this car started to pull unlike any car i have ridden in or driven, minus the GT40 I did a 5k maint on when I still worked for a ford dealer as atech. After 110 he had no chance and when I looked in the rearview he was as they say bus lengths behind and she was still pullin hard. so I am also curious about this so called pulling hard at high rpms here. I wonder can anyone clearify, this is a Benz forum right? Or did I just sign up for the wrong one.
