BMW 650i wanted to race
So I'm driving along the highway and a 650i convertible decides he want to race me. He quickly pulls up and starts riding my *** so I do the usual downshift so he's gotta brake and go around me.
The problem is there are cars everywhere and I'm not going to put other people at risk. If there was a straight opening and a lot of distance to the next car I might have entertained the thought.
So this guy starts weaving in and out of traffic and not even using a turn signal. I saw at least 3-4 cars that he would have caused an accident.
About a mile up he gets in the center lane and puts his window down. I see a girl in the passenger seat and this guy is grinning ear to ear. I shake my head and tap it like "wtf are you thinking?" and his grin is gone and he frowns and puts his window up.
I may not have raced him for the kill, but I sure did kill his mood and make him look like a tool.
Are people really this dumb? Back in SoCal I never ran into people acting do careless.

Did he try to race after he pulled the window up or you just smoked him and left him behind?

I never have trouble with BMW owners. I have seen people drive needlessly aggressive in them, but I have the tendency to think they are not the owners of the cars or new owners testing out their car. I have however seen a lot of guys in lifted trucks driving reckless. About 4 times this in the last year I have seen guys like this cutting people off tailgating and driving reckless even in the pouring rain at high speeds. What's odd is every time they were sporting a fireman hat sticker on their windows. I am not sure if this means they are one or maybe they are exempt from some kind of laws from police. I just can't put together why the ones who see horrible things daily drive insane. Maybe it's their fast paced life style?

Annnd what if the M6 wasn't stock? What if it had headers, full exhaust, Evolve R tune, RPI air intake and pulley? Similar to your mods. Good luck then.

It's always much easier to pick up tons of horsepower from a forced induction vehicle. A $650 chip will pick you up 70 hp easy from a 335i, to get that out of an E46 M3 would require pretty extensive internal engine mods, spray, or a super/turbocharger mod.

Do you have any objective performance measurements from both an E55 with his mods and an M6 modded as you describe? I don't think the mods you describe are going to pick up all that much on an M6...maybe a 30 horsepower net.

Case in point:
Even a Mk.1 older Nissan GTR will put a good beating a stock M5/E55 AMG. But with those mods, the race is a lot closer and the modded AMG/M will pull on a stock GTR MK.1 only up top. Barely.
Impressive to me? Sort of. Not really but it's something to show that even those mods can open up a N/A V10. Headers especially open up the most power along with a good tune. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's only a N/A V10. It's been years since it came out and there are now a good number of tuners and good boltons for it.
It looks like around 50-60 hp pick up from that video alone.

And when did I ever say I dislike Mercedes AMG? My father used to have one and my mom currently drives one. I love AMGs! UNLIKE you, who seems to dislike anything non Mercedes, I AM a car enthusiast so I respect ALL makes and models. I am objective (GASP!) so I look at real world results and statistics as "evidence".
I am a huge car nut and have been since I was a young kid. Am I annoying here to you and some people (NON car enthusiasts who are only biased towards their AMGs) who hate anyone outside the norm? Maybe...
But know one thing, I am just stating my point/opinion and do not wish for any strong backlash. I love all cars/makes and I just look and the facts and real world results. I am a member of both BMW M and this board and lurk NAGTROC.org
Why? Because I see a 2013 Nissan GTR in my future with full bolton mods etc. Will I then make fun of you if I see you out there and smoke the hell out of you in your AMG? No! I will give you a

Actually headers and a good tune will really open up a N/A V10 believe it or not. Add those RPI intakes for the airflow and the vehicle opens up.
Case in point:

Even a Mk.1 older Nissan GTR will put a good beating a stock M5/E55 AMG.

And anyway, I'm not interested in runs of an M5 vs a GTR, I'm asking if you have any instrumented data showing an M6 with the mods you listed will beat up on an AMG with the mods Charley has on his car.
For example, here's an E55 running an 11.44 at 121.54.
Pretty quick. And that's far from the fastest E55 out there, but yet it's faster than the fastest modded M6 time available on dragtimes.com, which is this one, an 11.87 @ 119.45, or the fastest modded M5 time on dragtimes.com (excluding nitrous-modded versions, more on that in a second), which is this one, an 11.93 at 119.8.
With nitrous, the fastest modded M5 time is this one, 10.578 @ 130.190.
Which, unfortunately, is slower than the the fastest modded E55, this one at 10.51 @ 132 (and no nitrous).
But with an exhaust, tune, and airbox, a modded M6 isn't going to match, let alone beat up on, a decently-modded E55, you'd need mods to the internals to pick up that much horsepower.

Gustav is a shill for BMW and their tuners, and is not regarded as a credible source of info around here, for reasons that will become very obvious if you search through his posting history here.

However, http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e63...ia-videos.html
If you have the time, just take a look at that thread (Not Gustav btw) and look at the races and the mods listed a few posts down.
Do Camshafts and race cell cats count as internal engine ugprades? if so, I'd say you win the argument here.

Thanks. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Camshafts are definitely internal (by which I mean internal to the engine, i.e. heads, cam, crank, piston etc. mods), exactly the sort I'm talking about. Cats are external, but they're not going to pick up much; a camshaft change definitely can give you a good pickup, however. The *really* fast M5s/M6s are the strokers, which is definitely an internal mod and definitely extremely fast, do some google searches for those suckers, they haul.

In addition to strokers, ESS has V10 supercharged kits out and G power in Europe has something very similar. They make more power and are even faster than strokers.

I wouldnt be so sure about that, there are plenty of Subaru's out there that would destroy a AMG. I personally own a 586 whp 2006 STI that pulls easy 10.5 quarter miles.
