Sorry I guess I miss understood you. I did read about that bike that you posted, and if you think 400hp is a lot for a 500 lb bike you haven’t seen anything there are busas that produce over 500 hp and are driven on the streets, and look stock except for a stretched swing arm. It will cost you 75k plus the price of the bike to modify it.

Nice kill! I raced my friends cbr600 from 30-130 and beat him by a car length. We raced twice with the same outcome. He pulled on me in the beginning but then I started reeling him in and kept going

i raced my friend's '03 yamaha r1 from the roll staring around 30mph. I had 3 people in the car at the time. he had the hit first, and lifted up the front. he pulled hard on me up to around 100. by then he was about 5/6 car lengths ahead, after that, his distance started leveling off. about 120 i was completely level and it looked as though i started pulling slightly to around 140 (or remained constant - i couldn't tell, i was just surprised as well as the passengers. i'm sure half of the time it took from 100 to 140 was me catching up to his speed meaning i must have been really close or started to pull a bit. i would have liked to race from 80+ or 100+ and me with the first hit (counteract the slight accel delay of mb). he commented that the e has put up the biggest fight at those speeds to his bike. he also has experience w/ 911 turbos, and i took him in a ride to 158. he said it'll definitely beat a 911 turbo at high speeds......

please... there is no way an 03 r1 will lose to an e55. cbr600, maybe the f2, maybe. you guys supposedly racing these bikes don't understand how it is to go 150+ on 2 wheels. you're either down for it or not. not to say i have any less respect for those bikers who don't, they just choose not to (smart w/control). it's so easy to go full throttle in a car. not every biker is willing to go full throttle at those speed, especially when a car thinks they can keep up with them. they either back off because they think the car is unsafe, or the conditions are unsafe or don't like to play w/cars at those speeds.
anyways, people who don't ride bikes will never understand those who do. just take a look at how long this thread is, it just keeps going on... and on ... and ....

i've gone up to 158-159 before a blind up down hill was approaching. although the 4 land freeway was deserted at the time, i didn't want to take any chances with a car being hidden on the other side of that hill. it's strange since the car is supposed to be governed at 155, but it pulled straight passed it until i let off......either there is some margin of error for the limiter, or perhaps it's set higher???
as for bikes, don't get me wrong, i've always loved them....for me a new 600 would do, but that new r1 that came out is really nice! perhaps with a professional rider, i would have been beat by that r1 flat out, but by my experience with a pretty decent rider, they're very close at 100-120+

that's interesting, e55 is stock? i just don't think your friend was gunning the r1 because he should be able to do 170 with no problem if he wanted to. anyways...keep having fun w/your car.

I've taken my E55 till 159 mph (and I have a video to prove it)when it cuts me off, but mine is not super charged
I do belive our cars are limited to 159-160 mph
I I know my speedo is very accurate at high speeds, I have a certificate of speed when I thought I was doing 150 mph I was really doing 149.38 mph

R1's are fast bikes. It will take way more hp than what a stock E55 has to pull on this bike. The only comparison I have witnessed would be an '03 GSXR vs. a Supercharged GTS. I know the GSXR and R1 are pretty close performers but an E55 and a Supercharged GTS is not even close. From roughly a 90mph roll up to the GSXR's top speed the GTS was only up by 4 car lengths at most. You can't really believe that an E55 will pull on one of these liter bikes, can you? I guess I would believe it if it had 900rwhp ![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
One thing you need to find out is if the biker knows what gear he should be in. My bike pulls hard from whatever gear I'm in but if I were to run someone I need to know what gear to downshift to. From a 80mph roll I would probably go into 2nd if not 3rd to make sure my rpms are up in the powerband. I'm guessing most bikers out there don't start off in the ideal gear.
No flame intended.

I agree...
those who have never enjoyed a modern-day big-bore street bike have no clue as to how much slower a fast car is in comparison. My C32's almost as much fun as my 900...but the bike is faster. It all comes down to whatever makes you smile.
The biggest factor in "acceleration contests" of any sort on the street is rider/driver ability and judgement.(Or the lack thereof).
There are a lot of really fast cars and bikes on the road that are piloted by slow/inept owners.

like i said, perhaps with a different rider the r1 would have flat out beat me. however, it was my experience at the time that it was very close......

Suzuki GSXR 1000 0-60 2.8 sec ¼ mile 9.9. The R1 is slower than the GSXR but very close numbers. There is no way a E55 cant beat it, unless the rider doesn’t know what he is doing.
