E55 vs. M5.. classic
E55 vs. M5.. classic
Ran a V10 M5 about an hour ago. He did a fly by and was going to exit with his hazards on and my gf, who was a bit unhappy with his cheap shot lowered the window and gave him a thumbs down as I hit my hazards. He proceeds to exit and immediatly shoots right back on
Ran for about 5 minutes, results as follows:
In the spirit of full disclosure I would like noted my E55 isn't stock. Currently have removed resonator + K&Ns. Second, I had two passengers for a total of (duh) 3 persons in le E. I also had a trunk full of luggage curtosey of my passengers. The (dark blue) M5 was riding solo, mods if any are unknown as I didn't have a chance to speak with the owner. Now, on to the races...
First run:
Never really lined up, he started from about 3-4 cars back and attempted another classic fly by. I floored it as he neared my trunk from about 60mph and we took it to about 140 and he stayed at my trunk.
2nd:
We attempted to line up, and AGAIN he jumped from behind at about the same speed as last run and again we took it up to about end of 3rd and we staid door to door.
3rd:
This time I was tucked behind him, he jumped (A-freakkin'-gain) and I followed. Took it north of 150 from about 70 and I couldn't pull. By the end of this run I fell back 2-3 cars and we shut it down.
I saw him chuckle as we cruised by after the runs, apparently he was happy with the out come. One of my passengers (who is also a member of the boards) has it all recorded but can't upload as I'm on my iPad, whenever I have time I will upload the video as it has a few more runs then what I described, I just wrote the most interesting of runs IMO...
All in all, I wished I would have been solo as well and I wish he would've known how to line up for a proper 3-honk run. Given even just a fair start I know even with my extra weight the results would've been quite a bit different. A bit bummed I wasn't better able to represent for the AMGs but the streets are the streets.

hi. had a run with an e60 m5 few hours back. my e55 is stock, just ecu reprogrammed.
we had a run from 60kph, thus i was in first gear. he didnt even manage to pull forward on the start. passed him like 2-3 car length to the finish at around 250-260 kph.
i was expecting to loose.... this normal guys?

This is sooo true. I'm on the road ALOT! My c36 isn't all that fast so i end up running a lot of Acura's, Hondas, nissains, occasional audi or bmw but I'd say 1 in 5 actually have a clue how to line up for a proper run. Or worse they take it to a stupid dangerous level and want to race THROUGH the traffic you eventually catch upto.
Good lineup through. Be cool to see the videos
