Cobalt
C63 AMG vs Chevy Cobalt T/C

Driving went to pass a White 2 Door C63 AMG..

He thought it would be smart to floor it, as I'm passing him.
Either he's a nut case or he wants to race.

So I decided to pass him, end result he was at my rear quarter panel. Until I put my signal on and cut him off for being a dick

CLK 63 AMG
Bought a CLK 63 and have the Cobalt SS on my Christmas list...not to own, but to meet at a light. That said, I understand the supercharged version of that car to have a strong power to weight ratio and dole out its share of surprises. This story does sound improbable though.

HWYSTAR, show some respect. My 430 isn't modded and I believe cannot take the Cobalt. I never tried, but I watched one dispatch a 5.0 L Mustang with ease. Just something to consider

True, but those cobalts only have in the neighborhood of 225hp and about the same torque or less. Unless he has about 6 grand worht of add ons he wont stand a chance. I had a mustang 5.0, stock is kinda weak compared to todays cars (stock hp on a gt in 1990 was 225hp, and 275tq. The one true sleeper is the neon srt-4. C63 amg has over 340hp and nearly 400tq. I dont see how this cobalt would even stand a chance. Just sayin. I'm not downing his car, just his story.

Respect for what? A crappy first post, cutting off a car (that's called road rage) at speed? And like the Cobalt had a chance?

Btw, the turbocharged Cobalt is the one to get, not the SC'd one.

The C63 has 451 HP and 433 lb-ft of torque. You must be thinking of the C55 specs.

Respect meaning don't underestimate your competitor. No disrespect intended by the remark, nor any attitude of condescension. I'm a neubie. The post simply spoke to my own surprise at how quick that supercharged Cobalt runs. My 430 would have its hands full on a good day...and I would not have a fellow member woofing only to then see tail lights.

You are correct it was the c55 i was thinking about. SC is one thing, Turbocharged is a whole different ballgame. Just to clarify, it is my belief that every driver deserves their respect until they prove that they arent worthy of it. I myself like all makes and models, you give me a manufacturer and I can tell you something they make that you should respect when met on the street and why? Any takers?

Again, the turbo is the one to get if you must but judging by all these drag times, it is HIGHLY unlikely to find one that beats a stock 5.0 from a dig, a roll maybe, and if it could, you'll probably know it.

I'll admit I'm new to MB's but if he claimed it was a coupe C63 doesn't make it a Black series? I thought all standard C63 AMG's were sedans.

No way in hell he was beating a BS unless his car was heavily worked on. If that was the case, he wouldn't be in here being a douche bag about it. People who have lots of work done TYPICALLY aren't going to come on another forum to make a single post about high school age antics.

ETA: The other possibility is the OP mis-categorized the car and it was some other kind of Benz. Which is possible since the OP is clearly an idiot.

New, old Mercedes and REAL AMG's.
TONS of innacurate statements in this post. Bottom line is:

NO stock Cobalt (SC or not) could ever outrun a stock C63. Period.

The fact some people might try to argue the point does not change reality.

No the CLK63 was only in a convertible or the coupe was a Black Series.

The C63 is a sedan or a coupe.

2005 C55 black on black aka DVS C55, 2007 C230 sport silver on black for the boss
When transferring the info gained in the 1/4 mile to road racing its all about the mph.

Example: two cars at the drags. One runs 12.2 @ 109, one runs 12.5 @ 114. The car running the 12.2 got good grip and is definitely geared lower but doesn't have the horsepower. The car running 114 is the car with the most horsepower. On the road the car with the higher 1/4 mile trap speed wins because the grip and gears that mattered on the dig no longer apply. High trap speeds but low 1/4 mile times simply show a bad launch. Example: I run a consistent 110-111 trap speed. If I spin on the launch and run a high 13 I still run a 110. Weird how it all works.

A stock c63 traps in the 1/4 at ~117. The Cobalt much less even maxed out. The fun part to it all is that you never know what the next guy has under the hood.

My opinion based on many years of racing and observation...

If I remember from the Cobalt drag times, coming across one that is capable of trapping in the teens would be painfully obvious and EXTREMELY rare.

My brother had a Cobalt turbo. I tried him many times in my Clk55. It was ugly for the Cobalt.

Modded Cobalt SS vs BMW M5 E39 w/exhaust

M5 E39 has basically the same straight line performance as a C55 AMG.

Maybe OP was racing a wannabe AMG badged C300 or C350
