Here's an American car that'll put your Benzes to shame!
Please don't get me started on the brakes! They look like garbage can lids and have some Amazing stopping power!
Having driven one, even an E63 AMG would be hard pressed to keep up with one of these (probably couldn't)! If it sounds like I'm Impressed by this car, you'd be right! Next year, there will be one of these in my garage!

If GM were a hospital patient; it would be someone inflicted with terminal pancreatic cancer being treated by chiropractors at a hospital funded by neighborhood beggers. It ain't lookin' good for GM right now...and good luck with Warranty service if you do get the car & the company has been sold off and/or liquidated for creditors.

The new Cadillac CTS-V. 0-60 in 4.7, 1/4 mile in 13.1...$48,000
I'm looking forward to the day I can come up along your Benz at a stop light and beat you in a race...even if your car is nicer, mine will still have the classic Firebird logo engraved on the hood

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Last fall, I was at the strip with some friends. They brought along: A Corvette ZR1 (600hp), a E55 AMG with a asp pulley, and ecu tune and a Porsche 911 turbo (one of the newer ones with AWD). Posted times were:
2009 Corvette ZR1 - 12.24 ET @ 125 mph (traction limited)
E55 AMG - 11.05 ET @ 124.9 mph
911 TT - 10.99 @ 130mph
Oh and my bone stock C32 in need of a tuneup ran 13.5 ET @ 103mph busting a 1990's Z28 and a 1998 Mustang Cobra in the process. Since then I have both tuned up the car and added a C3P intake which combined dropped the 0-60 time to 4.5 sec as long as it had enough traction to hook up. Not sure about 1/4 times but I expect it is a couple tenths or more faster now. We'll see in the spring.
Sure the E55 was not stock and sure the actual real times don't match the magazines on a perfect day at sea level but they all were ran at the same day on the same track and had we had a CTS-V on hand to play with, I am pretty certain that one of the boyz woulda busted it, lol. The real disappointment was the new Vette. The driver was a current ARCA driver who has been a NASCAR regional champ, so he knows how to drive at least a little. He was blowing the tires away in 3rd at the 1/8th mile pole. So any hopes of hooking up in a street race will be short lived. Truth is the heavier Spec V might even be faster in the real world but I don't know too many AMG drivers who will be afraid of it, let alone put to shame.

Still Car and Driver tested the new CTS-V with the supercharged engine to run a 0-60 of 4.3 sec and a 1/4 mi ET of 12.6 @ 116 which is very comparable to a E55 but far from puts it to shame. The same Car and Driver testers took out the 2008 C63 and put down a 0-60 time of 3.9 sec and 1/4 mi ET of 12.3 @ 116 mph, so yeah it is true the the new Caddy can run with the big dogs in a straight line. That is a long way from putting them on the porch. The extra pork on the caddy will not serve it well in stopping or cornering and it will still be a GM which means the level of fit, finish and interior appointments may not be up to par with the best of the best. I'll reserve judgement on that til I can try one out. Their claimed Nurburgring lap of 7:59 is impressive. But put that in perspective:
CLK-63 - 8:02
BMW M3 E92 - 8:05
Audi R8 - 8:04
C63 - 8:13
C55 - 8:22
C32 - 8:37
All run on different days with different weather and different drivers so on any given day with the exception of maybe the last two on the list you would be able to toss a blanket over most of them. Shoot, the Chevy Cobalt SS turbo ran an 8:23. Does that make it a world class automobile? I doubt it but is does say that it is a bloody quick little econobox, lol. Still, I say kudos to GM for making a real competitor and for offering a 6 spd manual trans option. That is something I wish I could get in the AMG. Based on what I am hearing the caddy is selling for $59-66k which is in the same ballpark as a C63 AMG. Hmmm, let me see, I can get a Cadillac or an AMG, which one should I choose? Competition does improve the breed. I look for that Nurburgring record to fall within a year or two. BMW or AMG will own it.

In all seriousness, if I were in the market for a mid 60s high performance compact sedan, I would buy a C63, but since my wife already has one, I will just settle with an M3 sedan.
