C32 vs M3

I take it you didn't click on the link I provided....
here it is again. Click here. Yes, here. Right here.
Actually, as you can see by clicking the link above, the total number documented on roadfly.org is 130. This is a pretty substantial number when you consider that it is highly unlikely that each and every E46 M3 owner in the world frequents the E46 M3 board on roadfly.org. Which means that in all likelihood, the actual number is even higher still, quite possibly significantly higher.

Yeah, just a minor thing...why should so many blown engines bother anyone?
Particularly when BMW's first response was to blame the owners...shouldn't bother anyone, not one little bit.
I will tell you this: there don't seem to be any blown engine pages for Mercedes products. And this isn't the first BMW has released cars without sufficiently tested engines; the first 540's also had numerous engine problems.
As to there being sc'd M3's: so what? Stock vs. modded is lame...the C32 comes with a sc stock; the M3 does not. If you start talking sc'd M3s, someone else can point out that there are already modded C32s running 450+ horsepower...modded vs. stock comparisons are lame and off the mark...
Why? Because anything can be modded to be faster; there are no shortage of modded Honda Civics running 12's, 11's, 10's, and even some 9's. But this is a stock vs. stock discussion. Ultimately, since both cars have the same displacement and displacement is *the* limiting factor to the maximum horsepower and torque an engine can produce, neither could be modded to make any more horsepower than the other.
And FYI: adding a supercharger will totally void the warranty on that fragile motor. If you want to gamble, roll the dice, but stock to stock, the wider torque band of the C32 will normally score a victory over the more-peaky M3 motor.

So, it was a recall. They've probably fixed it now.
I think there already is a S/Ced M3 on E46fanatics.

Apparently, the crankbearings on the early M3:s had too wide tolerances and therefore the engines failed.
I don´t know if BMW had specified them wrong in the beginning or if it was the outsourced producer that made bearings with bad quality.
There are milage between BMW and MB in technicality.

I hate these cars. They all think they are the fastest guys on the planet. I had some truble with a BMW 540. He loocked like a skinhead and the exhaust system was such a shame.
Good luck with your C32.

Sometimes I hate my automatic tranny too and miss my old manual tranny. The problem over here is that we've a lot of pimps driving an BMW 318 with M3 body kit and the badge on the heck, so I mean facke M3's. Then the come after you and wan't to play
