I raced a cop and won the first race.....
I raced a car today which I didn't know was an undercover cop. Damn car had a bumper sticker, licence plate frame with aa auto dealers name on it, and specialty licence plates.
Something told me not to race him the second time he pulled up to me at 100mph.
He stated "I tried to pull you over but you pulled away."
He clocked at 125mph.
Believe or not, he let me go! He stated "If you would've raced me the second time you would've ended up in jail."

I spoke to a client of mine yesterday evening and he stated that where he resides (Clearwater) they use a tricked out Ford F-150 pickup.

Like you've noticed, they've gotten better at making unmarked cars blend in. The current unmarked impalas around here have spoilers and the radio antennas bent under the spoiler to conceal them. The suburban has the lights built into the roof racks.
You're lucky you got off, yet I feel this story is

Gee, tough crowd. Yes, I was very lucky.
I have no reason to lie.
The officer simply looked at the facts, a deserted highway, no one was in harms way, clean driving record, etc.
Don't forget, he bated me on the first race, not really entrapment, since law enforcement is entitled to, under the law, to use deceit.
This officer like many that I've worked with and know personally simply used good judgment and gave me a break.

I can empathize.
I was going better than a buck in my W126 when an unmarked Lumina merged onto Rt101 in Hampton NH. He sped up to match my speed, pulled into the left lane parallel to me(I made no eye contact with him) and I sequentially dropped my speed down to 70 mph(in a 65 zone). He then pulled in front of me and turned off at the next exit.
All I could think of was
Some of us are born lucky.

connecticut undercover cars are usually fords with no lights on the roof, tan and dark blue, usually can spot them because of their antennae on the back. i saw two of them yesterday on I-95, i think they also have a camaro

As you are aware, there is a deserted strech just south of Brandon that they usually let you fly if there isn't anyone on the road, ie, if you aren't endangering anyone, but, not always.
I already got my break.
FYI, law enforcement does read these forums.

that is interesting. I have logged around 200K miles in past 3 years just on I-75 from gainesville to tampa/sarasota. I have never heard of this happening before. Was it an FHP vehicle?

IMO Escort Passport 8500 or Solo S2 (cordless) are the best radar detectors. I have one in my C32 (8500) & Viper (S2) and I have no tickets (knock on wood). I have been saved many times because of the great advance warning these detectors have.
If a cop is up a mile or so radaring passing traffic, you'll pick up 1 or 2 bars on the Ka or K band which tells you to slow down. Eventually, you'll roll up and be hit full on 5+ bars and realize those 1-2 bars a mile back saved you from a ticket (or gave you enough warning to slow down).
I don't drive without my detectors on!

So, do I need two, one for the front and rear, or, just take the risk that someone won't approach from behind?

I've seen older Ford Expeditions, Ford F-150's, VW Bettles, etc.
They put beads on the rear view mirror, dealer license plate frames, tate University license plates, bumper stickers.
The rules have changed!
It sucks!
