1-1 against a ZX-7... at half throttle!
Those first thousand miles of break-in seem to take forever ![Mad](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)
I'm up to 750 miles on my SL65, and out cruising yesterday afternoon putting some easy street miles on the car. At a stoplight on Holly I run into a ZX-7. It's a clear 3 lanes ahead of us, and the temptation is too great to resist. As the light changes I'm instantly halfway into the throttle, for the first time. The SL launches like a bat out of hell (massive midrange and great traction control) and I pull a solid carlength on the ZX7, who probably bogged slightly.
At the next light, the ZX7 pilot is looking at me funny and revving his engine, and it's on. For bonus points, a 993-series Porsche 911 has pulled up on my right, and we're set for a 3-way split. I have to resist the temptation to nail the throttle all the way to the firewall when the light changes (
) and this time the ZX launches perfectly, pulling a slight wheelie all the way through 1st as he puts a solid carlength on the SL by 50 MPH. At that point I back off from ~half throttle again and resume cruising; the ZX takes the next exit.
I think I could have taken him at WOT. Darn darn darn. Soon...
Oh and the Porsche? Crushed. What did you expect?

Damn, I know the SL65 is a fast car but to race a motorcycle. The ZX7R is a fast bike that does 0-60 in 3-4 seconds. I forget the time. Anyways, sweet car man..... I saw an SL65, special order at the dealership the other day. had a sticker of 190k. Thats insane!

I'd be happy to run your ZX as soon as it dries out![hammer](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bonk.gif)

Now that would be a great race! If you two meet up you have to tell us all about it. I'd never race a bike, but that SL65 is a monster. I'd bet on the SL.

I dont think that you can pull that wheelie like in the FaF, at least you must have a lot of tq. and great knowlege of you vehicle. I dont think that a rx-7 can pop a wheele because the rotary engines dont produce engough tq. Good job tho.
