I just got owned
Today, I was driving on the freeway, and there was very little traffic, and I saw one of those new Bimmer 6 series. I dont thing that those are very good looking cars, but whatever. Anyways, I wasnt expecting to win, and I badly lost, but once I get my modifications done, I will be ready for almost anything. Since I got baldy owned, I dont thing I should tell the whole story so I can keep some dignity, how about youguys though, have any of you raced a new 6? They arent extremely fast becasue they are fairly heavy cars.

My '87 300D. This wasnt really a race either, but I wanted to see how fast one of those 645's went, so I provoked him a little. I am planning some of those mods like in the thread about diesel in the performance section.

Under the tuning section, check out the thread titled something like "do you think diesels suck?". There is proof of this, there is a car that gets nearly 450HP.

I have a 123 too, but thats just going to be my beater. I wonder what type of milege the 124 gets after these mods are done. If I could get 17+ that would be sweet, but thet probably wont happen.

Mercedes diesel engines specifically OM60x series seem to be able to take a real beating. Their stock internals can take 430 hp and 600 +lb/ft of torque at the rear wheels for several hundreds of thousands of miles(According to the Finnish themselves). We are talking about a 12-valve - 24-valve 3.0 liter 6-cylinder diesel engine. The basic design was introduced about 23 years ago. Aye, Carumba!
Mercedes really could've made something special with these cars. They had the "guts" to claim that kind of power.
BTW, if one is going to tear into a project like making your diesel into a Super Turbo, it takes real talent. I wish I posessed as much talent and time to dig into this kind of work. It has me drooling.
As these new CDI's come out with ever increasing horsepower and torque, I will not even pause to wonder if MB has finally pushed these engines too far.

I have 3 different 300D's. A '85, '87, '99. I have not read the literature on the '99, is it a 24 vavle or not? Are the blocks the same on the '87 and '99 or not. I dont think so, but I am not sure.

BTW, that is why when we talk about OM603 or OM606 engines we use OM60x. They are the same diesel engine family.

my cousin is thinking of getting one of them 645. we test drove the car a week ago and it was pretty fast considering the weight. but i think it's pretty much as fast as an SL500.
