Killed a new Cobra (badly)
Don't usually take the 55 to work but it's headed back to Mech Tech on a flat bed to get the inter-cooler tank relocated (bonehead location, can't even change a headlight bulb!). Also had some slight pinging since that tank location has the coolant hose kinked as well.
Anyway, go to lunch and I'm gettin' on the 101 headed south and here comes a youngster ridin' my *** to get on the freeway. I could tell it was new, still had the paper "Galpin Ford" plates in my rear view. I can tell he's going to lay into it when we merge. No real traffic gettin' on, so I slowly accelerate and move into the slow lane. I see him swing wide and grab a gear. I wait until he's starting to come along side, make sure ESP is off, and floor it. With the head start, he gets about a fender on me as the revs hit about 3200 and warp drive cuts in. By the time I get out of it, I'm doin' 125 and he's at least 15 cars back, flashing his lights. I slow down to 55 and he gets along side with his window down, yelling that he missed a gear, blah, blah, blah. So I say "go when you're ready". This time it's worse, I floor it the same time he does and I just let off at about 90 and watch him do a ricer fly by. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I think the 55 was that fast stock.

Nice kill Brad!
Next time make sure to call me so i can video tape it!
:p How do you like the feel of the gen II kit? Also what other mods do you have? Are you running aftermarket suspension? If not you definitely should. Makes a big difference. I'll see you at the feb meet. I wanna check out your setup!

Yeah, wish I had a tape of that, I'm sure he's still making excuses. It was completely unexpected. I wasn't looking to run anybody until I'm sure there are no issues with the blower. I'm going to keep the stock suspension, I don't want to stiffen the car at all. I may change the stock pads to lower it a little, but it already rides pretty stiff IMHO. The only mods to the car are chrome headlight rings, a 12" W3 JL sub and JL amp in the trunk, tinted windows, matching wood/leather shift knob, chrome shift surround, 5000K Philips bulbs in the low beam, HID conversion for the high beams, AMG door sill plates and seatbelt pads, and of course, the Gen II. I am looking to do something with the brakes, at least some different pads. The freakin' Benz dust really pi$$es me off! You have to wipe the wheels every time you drive the car, WTF is up with that?
I'm going to get a set of drag radials before I track it, traction is a problem from a dead stop.

lol Yeah the kid probably went back to his daddy and said daddy i got beaten by a four door sedan and now i want that same thing. lol
:p You find the stock suspension stiff? Wow. I thought it was too soft for my taste. And the JL W3 setup you've got going need to check that out. About your brake pads lol I used to be like that too. Everytime i would take out the car i would have to clean the wheels because of the brake pad dust. But no more.
Yeah i know what you mean by traction problems
and the answer is LSD!
Hope to get mine soon!

You're getting a LSD!!??? NICE. How much, and who's doing the work if you don't mind me asking? That is almost sure to be my next major mod. Drag radials are cheap and they help quite a bit, but they aren't for every day.
Guess I'm just gettin' old on the suspension thing. I mean, it doesn't handle too bad now, and how much better is going to get with stiff springs and shocks? I like to cruise comfortable. :p
I had a pair of 10" W3's for a while, but it just overpowered the stock Bose fronts. Soon to get a new optical interface that allows aftermarket speakers and amps up front. Then I'll go back to the pair of 10's. I'm keeping the stock nav/COMAND.

Don't know, never ran or drove a SL55, but I raced a new Cobra and beat him.
Granted, junior wasn't much of a driver, but that wasn't the difference. If you're stock, you're done. Unless his car was exceptionally slow for a new Cobra, and yours is exceptionally fast. Lots of W211's and more than one SC W210 getting together next week..................

I have decieded against the supercharger for my car because after my tranny blowing up, I'm very nervous about adding more stress on the tranny. I found out the 210 55 has one less clutch plate than the 211 55.
In Feb, I will be getting my car remapped by Powerchip and putting in 3.27 gears with a new tranny module. I think with my K&N's, exhaust, Powerchip, pulleys and gears my car should make me happy for a while, but nothing like your Gen II.
See you on the 5th.

It's possible it was used, but it did look new to me and had Galpin paper and C-O-B-R-A on the back, and yes, junior didn't have clue. I figure from my supremely accurate butt clock and 421 RWHP I should be good for a low 12 easy. If you're sorta stock, that sorta changes everything.
I've seen some freakin' fast "sorta" stock Cobras!
Have you dyno'd it?

By KB, I assume you mean the Kenne Bell twin screw? That should make a huge difference over the stock setup. The car looked like the pic I guess, but not a convertible. Not to be a d*ck, but why are you on a MB board?

Yes Kenne Bell. Even, a pulley makes a huge difference on these cars. There are plenty of stock blower guys in the low 11's and some in the high 10's.
