fuel sensor problem?

Recent problem developed with my fuel gauge in 98 320. Whenever I fill the tank the gauge will read empty with or without reserve light on. After I drive for a few miles, turn the truck off and start it back up, the gauge works fine until I fill the tank again. Anyone encountered this problem, is their any simple fix other than replacing the fuel sensor? FYI, I do not top the tank off. Thanks in advance for replies.

my 01 C has had 3 sets so far, and just last week when my wife fueled it, reserve light stayed on, needle stayed at e. 3 ignition cycles later, it was fine again. sensors fix it every time, so I asume that's all that can be done. Maybe different for your 320 though.

Thanks, I didn't think there would be a quick fix, any idea what it would cost. The last time I had one replaced it was under warranty.

This has happened to me only when I filled it while it was running

the next ignition cycle cleared it, but it had to be left in the off position for a bit. I have been okay since I only fill up when it is off now.
