Weight Distribution Hitch

Does anyone know if a Weight Distribution Hitch is an appropriate application for an ML430? I would like to install one but cannot find anything in the owners' manual that states yes or no.

I’m very aware of what a WDH is and where a WDH goes. I’m asking the question because 1). Some SUV’s especially all-wheel drive variants prohibit the use of this kind of hitch system and 2). The manual does not speak to this towing set up in any respect so I’m looking for clarification before proceeding forward.

What do you intend to tow? I thought weight distributing hitches are usually for trailers that are much heavier than a ML is capable of towing. Based on the 5000 lb rating.

We used one with our camper. With out WDH, our ML320 did ride a little lower in the back, so the head lights projected higher and the steering was just the slightest bit looser (with the extra weight on the rear.)

With it, it made the ML320 ride prefectly level.

Over all we thought the ML320 was a fine tow vehicle, (but we don't have anything to compare it with.)

For 2 years I have been towing a Tent Trailer (approx. 3400 lbs.) and have been experiencing more rear sag than I would like. The WDH is the right fix but I want to make sure this application is OK before I proceed. I sent an email to Mercedes but have yet to hear back. Just looking for information that this htich set up is applicable to my vehicle.

The official reply from Mercedes is that they have no reply. The Technical Advisor I spoke with had zero information pertaining to the application of a WDH nor was there any other way to get the answer asked or answer.

Do a search on that topic at: http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforu...hp3?forumid=17

I remember there was a discussion about hitches and one member did have a weight distribution hitch setup. I think his name is ****goodman but I'm not positive.

Edited: I see that for some reason astricks appeared. Maybe this system censors certain words, after all this is America and there are lots of things you can not say, If that's the case I still know how to spell some words; so his first name starts with a D, and then an I, then a C, then a K, then an I, and then an E.
