resetting service light
Yes, there is a section in the owners manual. Basically, your turn the ignition key to the #2 position and press odometer button twice. This will display a wrench and the miles. Resetting is turning the key off, then back on to #2 while holding down the odometer button until an alarm sounds. I've tried this and it doesn't work for me. Good luck.

Yes, are you talking about the flexible service system (FSS) light or check engine? The FSS is user resettable. The check engine however, requires a OBDII scanner and a remedied problem or it will simply send it the code again for an encore of the light.

Blinking FSS Indicator
Hello Everyone....
I am new to the site and have learned a lot! I have a 2001 ML320. I just took a trip and before my return, I had the oil changed, tires, and all that good stuff done, but not throught a MB dealership. My FSS indicator came on. I went to reset it but somehow I messed it up and is now blinking and won't stop blinking. This has been going on for about 24 hours now. Last night I went to dinner with my wife and upon our return, it was dark, I turned the lights on and the illumination in the instrument cluster does not work. I am not sure if this is related to my first problem but what a coinsidence. Any suggestions????? thanks.

Hey everyone,
i just noticed something on my 01 ML320. When my moonroof is closed, my instrument cluster lights go really, really dim and I can barely see them. When I open it, they all illuminate just fine??????? any ideas?????

If you do not have a code reader and your check engine light comes on disconnect your battery for about an hour and reconnect it, if it goes away then it might have been a minor malfunction, if it doesn't then take it to the dealer or a reputable shop.

There are several other site with incorrect methods of resetting the FFS. Thank you guys for the correct procedures for the W163's. Resetted my 2004 ML 500 easily
