I find the Continentals excellent in all situations, plus, they are quiet and wear well.

Try Nokian, I use the "WR A.W.P. 2 SUV" up here in northern British Columbia, and as far as all season, they work great in the snow and ice, as well as rain/dry pavement. They also make what is called the" Hakkapeliitta SUV ", which is the best winter radial you will find. They have a great warranty as well, and get high milage. Check thier site. You won't find many comparison reports, since they can only be sold by select dealers.

Well, I went on tirerack.com, and they have recommended tires, I was wondering...wouldnt factory originals be better??

My friend has a 01 ML320 and she put on some bridgestones and they wear away quick, thats what she said...

But I'm leaning toward a second pair of 4x4 Contacts, My car has 38000 miles and its beginging to get bald

Ron, did I read that right.........you got 62,000 miles out of the Michelins ?

Thats incredible!!! What tire pressure do you run ?

I was very happy with the Dunlop TG35's for many years and used then till they were discontinued. Now running a set of the Bridgestone Duelers with about 30,000 miles on'm. I will probably replaced them next spring and will definately price out the Michelins. What's the best current price on the cross terrains for the 17" ml430 wheel ?

I just bought a new set of Cross Terrains for the ML. I got them at Tire Rack for $182 per tire. I really didn't shop around because the other places around here are idiots. The dealership was charging $253 per tire for the Michelins Cross Terrains. So I was happy with $182. My old tires were Cross Terrains. They were awesome in the rain and the snow. In case you have snow.
I highly recommend them.

I did replace my old set of Cross Terrains, with a new set, when they had 62K miles on them They still had a little more than one millimeter before they were at the wear bars. The wore very evenly. I rotate tires every 3500 to 4000 miles and inflate all four to 34 psi.

As others have said they are great in the rain and snow.

They may be more expensive but I think they are more than worth it. I got mine at Costco also.

Goodyear Fortera SA

I just bought the new fortera silent armor from goodyear. The old factory installed tires needed replacement on the ML500 2002 model I just recently bought.

What a ride... now I am really riding on a mercedes.

I bought it out of tirerack.com and had it installed locally.
