Door lock problem (I think)
It sounds like the door lock. but I'm not sure which one. I'm guessing it's probably the fuel filler door, or the rear gate.
The noise sounds like, some sort of motor or something "over turning" or something like that. Kind of like a drill, where you set it to the lowest setting and drill something hard, and the drill stops the motor keeps trying or something.
It's very close, but it seems like the thing keeps going after it locks. I figure it's the locks after learning that the ML ahs electric locks.
Well, that's the best i can describe the situation. Any ideas?
(We're out of the warranty, so if some sort of repair might be needed, about how much?)
Thanks.
I don't know whether or not it's the fuel filler flap thing lock, or the rear gate/hatch lock.
It's pertty hard. I'll try and figure it out later.
Thanks.
So far, I can figure that the noise happens after it has been used a lot. I usually hear it when we go shopping or something, and the locks are always used.
I found out that the sound is coming from the rear hatch/gate/door.
The dealer did work on the rear defogger a month ago. Could working on that have affected the lock in any way?

Is there any possible, imaginable way that the dealer people who worked on the rear door could have somehow damaged the actuator?
How soon until you think it's gonna go out?
As far as it going out, it shouldnt. I have never seen them just stop working. The main problem is that if it jumps up and down and then stays in the unlocked position, it can make the other doors stay unlocked too. Worst case if you dont use the rear hatch too much, you could pull the rear hatch cover down and unplug the actuator. The power lock wouldnt work on the rear hatch but it shouldnt affect the side doors then. I have never tried this but it should work.
