Advise - Trading Ml320 2002 for a 2001 ML55 - Please advise
Hi,
I would like to trade my 2002 Ml320 with nav for a 2001 Ml55. Both car has the same mileage, 60k miles.
Can you tell me if I am doing a good thing ? Is there more problems on the pre2001 models compare to my 2002+ model ?
Any help will be appreicated.
Thanks

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
i dont think so. sure there are alot of upgrades... but i think with that whole time period.. its all a hit or miss really. is the 55 coming with any warranty at all?

Get a Warranty and check all service records! I have a 2001 ML55 and the carfax was clean only 31,000 miles on it...come to find out that the previous owner never broke the truck in correctly and only performed two services in 31,000 miles!! end result a Blown head gasket! and @3k out of my pocket....before you but it PLEASE take it to MB dealer and let them run a service history on!
My advice Keep your 2002!!

Unless you're power hungry, I'll not do it. I have driven them all and I'd have to say the daily ergonomics of the 02+ model years trumps what was offerd prior to MY02. Again, the power of the 55 is a definite plus. But other than that, you will miss the conveniences of your MY02.

C230K, downgrade :(
many ml's before 2002 have technical and electronic disasters ive heard wait it out w/ your 320 thats fine, do something to that to raise hp, dont waste money on new car that has been shown to break (previous 2002 ml's i mean)

Out Of Control!!
Go for it, My 2000 ML55 has given me "some" headaches but there isnt another suv I would trade it for...
but as many have said, check on the service history of it... Also how much is leaving your poket?

2004 ML500
The ML55 is a classic - a great machine obviously.
However I think that it would be a much smarter, and safer decision to instead go for a 2003 or later ML500.
Why 2003? So that it's newer than yours. Why ML500? Because you'll still see a huge improvement over your ML320.
2002 and later MLs have also benefited from safety enhancements, from what I remember.
I know the ML55 is tempting, but it's actually got only 50 or so horses more than the ML500, but it's a much less reliable and practical vehicle.
