03 ML 350 Gas Gauge Problem

I just purchased an 03 ML 350 Inspiration Package... When I picked up the car, it had 1/4 tank of gas left...Drove it some and noticed the fuel light come on so I filled it up with 91 octane and the gas gauge registered full. Drove it home, let is sit for an hour or two and now when I start the car, the gas gauge reads at 0. Anybody have some ideas on this? Could a fuse be the issue or is this some sort of bigger electrical thing? Help is appreciated. Thanks.

Possibility is failing fuel sender, a part of the fuel pump. If you are under warranty it should be covered.

I thought we discussed this b4. It's a common problem that has been diagnosed as a failing or failed fuel sending unit. Again, this will not damage the truck. And again, you can take the truck in now and have it taken care of or wait a couple of months to ammass any other issues and take in for a collective resolution. You are still under factory warranty, right???

No, it depends. I have a 05 and there are still electronic glitches, but a lot less. Frankly, I have only had two.

1 - the BAS, ESP, ABS lights will all come on - known issue and usually related to either brake switch or trip computer

2 - Teleaid, Visit Workshop - this one was more difficult to diagnose. After several weeks, they decided to re-harness the entire vehicle, and thanks to this board, I said NO. However, thanks to my persistent SA, MB did authorize a fix and they isolated the problem to a bad harness and resolved the issue. As far as I know, I'm the one of three who have had that problem.

I don't know what's up with the 03 and 04 models but I'd guess thay're not much different from the 05s sine this was the transitional perion when MB was working on the 06 W164 model. My guess is that a few better things were tested in MY03-04, in anticipation of the W164.
