I can't believe that there is no way to do this...
Anyways, I cannot figure out how to turn on the navigation system without turning on the sound system/radio/cd/etc./whichever was last on. If you press NAV it starts the whole thing and the radio comes back on. If you push PWR, of course it all comes back on as well. I want to look at the map and not have the sound system/cdplayer/etc. on.
I simply cannot believe that the solution is to "turn down" or "mute" the radio/cdplayer. Also, if I don't have it on, then the rearview camera will not start up, which means that even if I don't want the nav system on, I have to have COMAND on and the vol down so that I can use my rearview camera?
I read the whole COMAND booklet today and did not find a solution. I noticed that at least one person had a similar problem, but everyone in the thread he started basically ignored the question and tangentially ranted about politics.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks
I leave the thing 'on' all the time, with 'mute' engaged. 'Mute' stops the CD playback as well. I just wish it defaulted to the Nav 'map' mode when it came on
Just a different mindset - you have to get used to it.
