Is it controlled by a sensor or a fuse? Help

2001 ML320 fully loaded except the damn navigation sytem.
Its most likely the fuel pump. If you search this thread you will find many topics about this notorious problem about m class. It happened to me this spring and they hit me upside the head for 900 dollars. Because they will most likely tell you you will have to replace the fuel pump and the three fuel lines because theyre getting old and brittle.

ML'S ARE Notorious for this problem, mine is nutz,..works when it wants to..if I fill up from 1/2 tank works no problem, fill up from 1/4 tank, it automatically goes to empty, low fuel light comes on...WTF and the next day works fine again...I have heard that it's the sending unit in the tank and it would take @1000 bucks to fix

I recently changed the fuel pump and sender unit. When filling up, i was getting 3/4 of a tank on the gas guage. Do you think that the This pump was misaligned during installation as it shows in this attachment? http://www.whnet.com/4x4/badgas.html

My Ml is still under warranty. I had to take it back three times before it was repaired. They replaced the sending unit, pump and hoses. still registered 0.Then they replaced the gas gauge in the cluster panel. Its working now. I am glad I purchased the extended warranty. This would have cost big bucks.
