My 2002 ML500 Jerks and Stalls
My 2002 ML500 jerks and stalls. Sometimes it comes to a dead stop and I have to sit and wait for an hour before it will restart and move. I changed the fuel pump but the jerking and stalling stoped for about 2 thousand miles. It is doing it again. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?
Also sometimes I have the brake lights and several other lights and a let of beeps go ff but they go away after about 15 minutes and they come back after about a week. Any ideas?

How many miles are on it? I'm guessing you already checked/replaced the fuel filter?

75 miles and I have replaced the fuel pump and filter. I am being told I need a crank position sensor, could that be the case?

Yup, the crank position sensor is a timing tool for the vehicle. It works with the cam position sensor. We had the same problem that you are having on a vette and chased the problem for a couple days before we realized it was a cam retainer which allowed the camshaft to move from the sensor thus stalling the motor. So to answer the question....yes a false reading/bad sensor will cause it to stall. Is there a check engine light on?

No there is no check engine light on. I rather have the ABS BAS/ESP/ETS warning lights come on any time the car starts jerking and stalls. Then the brakes start behaving funny and it goes on for a while then it goes away.

The brakes start acting funny because the brake booster is run off of vacuum which is maintained by the engine running. Any updates on your problem? Did you check/clean the MAF sensor?
