From what i understand thee bose amps are in the doors, though i would have guessed that "it" was located with the woofer under the driver seat...
I wanted to take the woofer out and put in a second "safe" but was told the system may not work if i did so.

well, if thats the case, then what is that under the passenger seat. I know the sub is under the driver seat, but there is something under the seat where wires are running to snd from there. And no its not a nav drive.

in your 98 ML the amp is located behind the drivers cup holder, in the dash... after the revamp it was located under the front passenger seat...
are you installing new door speakers or just a head unit? I can give you a work around if you want to just install a radio
