Front brake PADS for $352!!!
For those of you who have been through this, is this typical? I'm referring to the cost not my mileage - I live in a very hilly area so expect shorter life from my brakes in general.
What other options do we have? Is this a relatively simple thing that can be done just as well at any brake shop and how much would they charge?
Would appreciate any feedback, shouldn't be too long before I need the rear pads replaced!
My ML320 has about 25,000 miles on it and after getting the two warning lights and buzzer had the dealer tell me it needs new front brake pads. Was amazed that this cost $352 installed.

A shop would probably charge around an hour for the job so it would depend upon your local labor rates.
So does MB pay for the service and you pay for the parts? Sorry if this is a stupid question but can you please clarify what's covered and what's not?
Thanks,
03ML350
Wow that's pretty disappointing, my Audi included everything in its maintenance program, I just had to put gas and change tires.

Thanks for the replies. Next time I'll go elsewhere for the brakes. Of course, with both warning lights and the buzzer going on, I wasn't completely sure there wasn't some other problem and, if there was, it would have been covered under the warranty at MB.
Thanks for all the feedback.

Heck I can do the front pads in well under an hour using all manual tools !
My stealership wanted $480 to do all four sets of pads - gets expensive every 18,000 miles. But I guess having an expensive 'prestige' vehicle I should willingly pay this and more for the priviledge ;-)
Anyway, I complained to my dealer, Fletcher Jones N.B, that I didn't think the brake wear was normal. They offered to "Good Will" me 75% of the cost of the brake pad replacement(all four)
Imagine my surprise when I picked up the car an my balance was $176. When I asked about my good will, they said I got it and this was my 25%. That means FJ Mercedes wants $695 to replace pads and clean the rotors.
I told them fine, I was getting new pads for $176, but I also told them they should not expect any more brake work from me!
