Window switch gremlin arrived!

Hi guys,

The renowned electric window switch problem has struck ie window goes down but not up.
Can the front window switch be replaced with one of the back ones, as they look similar to the naked eye and if so how do you get them out?

Thanks for any help.

you can't take them apart

It is one big module...so you'll have to replace the whole thing. Unless you are really good with electronics, you maybe able to do what you said...

Also, I've read on hear, do a search, that some pull it apart, sand some contact points down, and it works? never had this issue...I have a 2002...

Some places, you tend to roll the window up and down all the time, so places you don't.

Mine is a 2000 MlL320 with 128K miles on it...I am just noticing that it is getting harder to roll up and down the driver side window..

Its just a use thing...it is a consumable part that will eventually fail!

mine has gone again.....it is a POS design, but, I realize I am on the second life of the car, it has 209K on it,I changed the first time under 75K so this one has lasted beyond expectations. now....I forgot how I removed the "wooden" inlay of the console to get to it. searching for a DIY post before I tear it up....thanks in advance

Finally plucked up courage and tried fixing it as per link above. 45 minutes later all back together and working and didnt cost a penny (cent)!
Forum saved me £100.
Thanks guys.
