Angry Bug Deflector - Blown away!

My Truck (99ML320) is in the shop right now. While driving last week the Bug Guard decided that its relationship with the vehicle was at an end. It flew serenely across three lanes of the 401 in Toronto. It has always made a farting noise at over 100 kph - I have complained about this several times. The dealer says that the manufacturer has NEVER had a report of this before.... can anyone else tell me if it has happened to them? I would like to give the manufacturer other examples as I am sure this cannot be an isolated event!

the latest....

They are now trying to say that it was stolen! How can a MB proprietary bg deflector (nearly the cheapest accessory!) be a covetted prize of the street theif! I don't think it fits a Dodge caravan..... I'm starting to wonder about the people I am dealing with.
Every new dealing with these guys makes me wish I had never bought a Benz.
If someone out there has lost a bug deflector this way please let me know!

Benz is really getting crappy. I bet a Honda dealer wouldve gave you a new one. Espcially if you spent the same amount of money there as at Honda.

Hey Troubble27,

I think you misread his post, since he lives in Canada they use kilometers NOT miles, so 100 KPH is about 62 MPHs.

How was your bug deflector mounted???? was it secured the same screws that secure the grill. I have the OEM deflector on my ML and it is secured by the screws that secure the grille. I have not had any problems.

Your car is now out of factory warranty by time. Whats the mileage like? Did you mount the accessory yourself or did the dealer do it? Did you purchase the vehicle used and it was already installed?
There are way too many what ifs here for a fair judgement. Your argument is very one sided, and you haven't a leg to stand on as to why they should give you anything for free.
