100K Miles Extended Warranty Question
I have a 2000 ML 430 with 38K miles.
On the mbusa website, they list Starmark warranties up to 100K miles, is a similar warranty also available from MB for an ML which is still under factory warranty?
Would it be worth buying?

I'm thinking the way you are...do I want to keep my ML without an extended warranty?
I have less miles but will run out in a year and a half. I think you can wait until the last year, there is no price break after the first year for starmark. So I'm putting off the decision, keep us posted what you find as extended warranty choices!

unfortunaltley the warrenty upgrade is only available for the first 12 months . after 12 months you cannot get a benz warrenty, this was not always the case but it is now.

MB G500
Yeah...
I just purchased a G500 two days ago, and my MB dealer (dealership owned by Mercedes) told me that any extended warrenty must be purchased within the first twelve months of ownership...

I checked with my local MB dealer.
The EXtended Warranty must be purchased in the first year.
The Starmark Warranty is only available to Starmark vehicles.
My only option is a non-OEM warranty.

warranty
I bought the warranty when I bought my ML. I had previously replaced the head gasket in an e-class for $1300. The warranty is expensive, but once MB does a repair, there is usually a very long warranty associated with the labor and parts. Because I plan to keep the vehicle, I bit the bullet.
It is like insurance. If you know you will have the money to pay cash for the big ticket items, should they happen, it is expensive. If a covered MB engine or tranny disaster happens, and boy they are expensive, you are covered. If it doesn't, you covered the person who's vehicle did crap out. But your vehicle runs.
I guess I am glad they "slid that one in me", because it does give me peace of mind. I still hope I never use it, but I will deifinately keep my eyes and ears open for trouble. Without it, I would stay in denial.
Or just flip a coin.

Lawsuit
About a year ago, MB settled a class action lawsuit involving the use of synthetic oils. In the settelement, there was an agrrement to extend the warranties on certain MB car/trucks. I have a 00 ML320 and received a letter from MB. I think it extends the warranty to 100k miles, but not sure what it covers. Anyone know?

Covered vehicles
If your local MB can't/wont' help you, I would suggest going to mbusa.com and registering your vehicle. Then you can ask a referencing question. Good luck.
