Chirping front end and rattling
My 2003 ML350 has a chirping sound when you first accelerate. Then a constant rattling. I replaced both front bearings and the left side front cv shaft. I think it could be the front drive shaft. There seems to be some play at the rear joint. Is the normal or could that be my problem? I am not sure that it could be the front diifferential. It seems to drive fine except for the noise. Reading the forum I see chirping could be the drive shaft. And ideas? Help please. I guess replacing the universal joint is cheaper than the differential.
