2001 ML430 Power Steering Noise Please Help

I have a 2001 ML430 and hear a whining noise when I turn the wheel. There was a recall on the power steering and I had that repaired. Does anyone know what is causing the whining noise? The fluid level is fine. There does not appear to be a leak. I would appreciate any advice on this.

Thank you in advance.

Hi. There could be two possibilities:
1. The PS reservoir has a diaphragm which is broken, so you need to replace the reservoir. After replacing make sure you PROPERLY BLEED the PS system.
2. Your PS pumps bearings are worn out. Solution a) have it reconditioned b) buy another one

Start with the reservoir it is not expensive about 30 - 40 US$.
In both cases you MUST BLEED the system PROPERLY to avoid whinningsound and busting the diaphragm!!!

Wis/Asra, EPC. All the info is from the horses mouth.

Jack the front of the car one side, put it on a stand. Then go to the other side jack it and also put it on the second stand. So both front wheels will be lifted. You will need 2 stands. It will be wise to invest in the stands, they are always very usefull. You cant work under the car if the car is jacked. Its not safe. You need stands to support the car.
