Any thoughts on when we will see a major re-fit or re-design ? I am pondering this unit, but sure would not want to get a 2004 and it be the last year before a revision.

Expect the W164 to show up in spring 2004 as a MY05 car. It is rumored to have airmatic suspension and 7G-tronic transmission.

Are you replacing a 2003 ML500 with a 2004 ML500? Ashtray full? :-)

Mind you I should talk - I replaced a 2003 E320 with a 2003 ML500...

Personally, I would wait for the 2006 ML's assuming the 2005 will be the redesign. I've said it in other posts and will reiterate, the next ML is going to be a very important car for MB as will all of the trucks they're planning on building in (Alabama?).

It will probably arrive early summer 2004 (june-ish). This is what I am hearing from most people (dealers and online). I spoke with the manager of a local dealer and he has no new info on the car yet. People are saying that the ML will debut the new direct injection engines from MB which will have more power and better fuel efficiency. When the 06 models come out I will either get the 06 or try and buy a used ML55 (2003).

For what its worth, I was told by my dealer Sept/Oct of 04 for the 05 new M Class. He was not certain if all of the varients would be available that early

After having a 03 E class which was a disaster I'll wait and see how the 05 ML's pan out for a year before trading up.

hey guys,

my ML lease is up in about 1 year. kind of good and bad timing.
the new ML should be available but i'm not anxious to purchase the first year of a new vehicle. i don't think first year problems are unique to MB. every auto manufacturer seem to have some glitches with new model introductions. so the sooner the new ML shows up the happier i'll be. ...so they can work out the gremlins
