climate control of its own?

climate control of its own?
This happen in anyone else's ML??? The climate control has a mind of its' own. When you put it on hot, it's very hot indeed, but when I turn it to the middle, still hot, even a little warmer than full red zone. Then when I have it in some of the blue area, still hot air, it doesn't get cool till I have it in the middle of the blue zone...

There is a delay built into the system. It will not react instantly. Perhaps you are not giving it enough time to adjust to the most recent setting

Actually, its not a mechanical system but manually controls air flow, fan speed however the temp is controlled electronically to the setting of the temp knob. I like tis system a bit better (I had a 98) than the one in my 02 ML 500. There is much less temp excursions.

G, ur system is functioning properly. This color is not like a typical manual climate control system. This is a semi-automatic temp control. I leave my ML at 11 o clock year round and it will heat and cool automatically based on temperature inside the car. Think of it like an auto system but there are no numbers for the temperature (kinda dumb). Just like with an auto climate control, for it to blow cold air u need to turn it ALL the way on MAX COOL when the cabin is cold. There is no delay in the system on mine, I am pretty sure your ML is fine.

I have a 2002 ML320 and I have this exact same problem. It will not change to cold air until you adjust the thermostat all the way cold. It stays hot on every other setting. I'm having it looked at this week so I will let you know what they say.
