![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I know the manual says to use MB AntiFreeze/Corrosion fluid but my SA says I can use Prestone. Problem is, the MB fluid is yellow and Prestone makes green, orange and red.
What color is safe to use
I don't have the time to drive to the dealership for anti-freeze.
After talking with the manager of Advanced Autoparts, he told me that newer cars have yellow and that Prestone/Zerex have introduced the yellow and it will be replacing all the other colors (green, orange and red). He expects a shipment of the yellow full strength formula and the 50/50 prediluted formula in a week a or so.

AntiFreeze
I read at one of the ML enthusiast sites (Wolfgang's I think) that Xerex G0-5 (which is phosphate free) is the only antifreeze suitable for MB and it is identical to the MB branded antifreeze.
I belive I bought mine at Pep Boys, although I recall seeing it at either Auto Zone or Advance Auto.
Good luck.

OK. I'm going to Advanced on my lunch break to look for the Xerex G0-5 and see if they have the yellow in yet also.
Does anyone have any pics of where/what the drain valves look like? The manual says where they are but there isn't a diagram to help pin point the location.

Whatever anti-freeze you use, make sure you mix it with distilled water. Tap water ruins more cooling systems than anything else. Mix it 50/50 with the anti-freeze unless you live in a really hot climate like Arizona. In this case you could go 55% distilled water and 45% coolant.

The good thing about the new anti-freezes is that they come in 2 formulas, 100% anti-freeze and pre-mixed 50/50. I'll be sure to get the 50/50.

Hi,
I got a 1992 300E with a 3.0L. I want to flush my system out. All cars I've done before, I disconnect the top hose and put off to the side to drain while engine runs, open radiator drain also, and feed fresh water into the top of the radiator. Is this how to flsuh this engine?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fish
