1998 ml320 with lift, dirt tires and rust !!!
Need help with AC, 1998 ml320
Hi there, im posting this with hope that this great forum can help me out.
So, got my ml used with 320 000 km on it, and, everything was working great. Ac did work perfect. Last week, hot weather 80 f, and ac was making weird noise like it was getting on and off on a 3 4 second cycle, i was driving so could not chek it......after a while, no more ac ( and no more cycling noise ) . here are the facts : all fuses ok, pressure in low port ok ( cheked with gage ), light on the ac button goes on when pushed. But, compressor does not come on, the clutch part of the pulley does not spin !
Any ideas??????
I would like to try and repair it without changing the entire clutch/compressor assembly and loosing all freon......
Thanks a lot guys !

When the compressor cycles it indicates that you have lost your refrigerant somewhere in the system.
Must have it checked by A/C specialist.

What do you mean, lost somewhere in the system ?? Meaning a have a leak? Improbable, given the fact pressure is good in the system.
A specialist is something i can not afford to pay, and also dont want to, paying a specialist to fix a 1000 dollar beater would be to mutch i'll just leave it like that !

The pressure you are referring to is static pressure which means that some refrigerant is present, but not the amount required. Please read.
