Smile 2001 ML 320

A Forum
I have a 2001 ML320 and Im getting A EVAP system leak code along with cylinder mis fire codes. I changed my spark plugs and wires just to ease my mind, plus they were in for over 90,000 miles. Any suggestions on checking the EVAP system itself? I see the purge valve has a clicking noise to it but Im not sure if thats from a leak in the system or its actually going bad.

A Maj. I changed my spark plugs and wires then cleared the codes. Those codes are the only ones that came back. Previously I had p0306, p0305 codes along with the evap codes.

For code P0410, here is the procedure you should use to find out what the problem is.

1. check fuse #45 in the underhood fuse/relay box and see that it is not blown.

2. remove plastic engine cover.

3. with a cold engine, have someone start the engine while you determine if the Air Pump is running, feel with hand and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. If so immediately shut the engine off. If it does not run, post back for further directions.

A Maj I checked the fuse and its fine. Had someone start the car and the secondary air pump is running. Theres a small black hose that connects the 2 EGR valves together. (I know they are not EGR valves but itsd the best way to explain them). The hose was fraid so i changed it. Im not sure but that could be the cause of the p0410 code. The new hose is a little loose im going to get a smaller one.

I also have a new problem which might bring some light to the situation. As im filling my fuel tank now the pump keeps stopping like the tank it full and its not. im guessing its a relief valve or something not letting the entrapped air or fumes in the tank out.

Jay, never post on two sites at the same time. Only post on a second site when you don't get any help on the first.

Like Witek told you on the other site, check the hose in the rear.

A Maj. I didn't realize everybody in the forums were connected to both sites. You were the only member on the MBworld site to respond to the post but i have a few responses on the other site. Just trying to get my problem out to as many people as possible. Thanks for the feed back.
